Hi All,

It has been 7 weeks since I have seen my husband (anyone reading.. pleaz expect a weekly update to my time away from my husband :) )

I read a lot about EOI then ITA etc. What is the shortest breakdown one could give me on the process. (obviously each application is different) but there seems to be diffrent streams to an application.

My husband has the relevant points for an EOI. Once submitted he then gets and ITA?
- How long does an ITA generally take ?
- Once an ITA is filled in, how long before you hear from them?
- If I am in S.A, what sort of documentation would they require my husband to produce for us as a couple ?
- What permit do I fly over on? Do I buy a one way ticket or a return ticket?

I know you all hear these questions daily and my humblest apologies for having type it our again....

Look forward to hearing your responses.

P.S : WHERE ARE THE OTHER MECHANICS WITH FAMALIES ON THIS FORUM........???????

:cheers

I can't help on your first two points. However the other two are pretty general. You have to provide evidence that you are a genuine couple, and this will take the form of e.g. your marriage certificate, your names as parents on your children's birth certificates, mail addressed to you both at the same address, joint bank accounts, photos of you together over a period of time. When your husband is given PR, that will extend to you and your children as well, so you will have the blue stickers in your passport, and that will entitle you to go in on a one-way ticket.

Yes, without PR (Permanent Residency) you will be expected to prove you have plans to leave NZ within six months (i.e. a ticket out).

With PR, obviously, you are entitled to stay, therefore can arrive on a one way ticket.

To confirm th above, if your husband is granted PR, it extends to you as well as long as you are named on all the paperwork (ITA) and can produce evidence that you are married.

As for length of time questions, this varies hugely dependant on the situation, so it's either a case of wait and see, or try to get some sort of indication from your local NZIS people.

It took us about 10 months to go through the process from initial submission of EOI to gaining PR. That is from UK with no job offer.

With a job offer things happen much quicker, generally.

Hi we left South Africa in March having chased paper work for us to get our PR - as we had son who was wanting to go to Uni. OH had job offer and so that definately made it a little quicker.

Can I suggest that you start getting your anabridge birth certificates from Home Affairs - they are absolutely rubbish at doing anything - let alone in a rush. It took us 10 weeks and many calls to find our where ours were - so dont waste time with that.

Police clearance etc was - unless you needing info from Zimbabwe - that takes more patience for Police clearance.

If I can help with any advice - just PM and will help where we can.

Thank you for thise helpful steps. I really needed to know about the undabrided thing Jayne, so you hit the nail on the head. I havent applied for them. I will complete and hand in by tomorrow.

I have our police clearances and will go for medicals closer to the time as they are only valid for 3 months as opposed to 6 months.

I am confident now knowing that it is a lot quicker if you have a job (which he is already working in)

Anything else I should know and prepare for Jayne.
