Well, a week to the day after posting my ITA, I receive a letter stating I was in a queue awaiting a case officer. The next day I get an e-mail from my case officer!! :nice1

The down side is that they are not happy with the NI printout I got from the inland revenue and the signed letters from my old/new bosses, they want more! :wah :wah #

They want letters on headed paper with hours worked/P60's/payslips/accounts from when I was self employed (11 years ago) that are long gone! :no

Wouldn't it have been easier getting on the back of a wagon?????

Anyway, it's Friday and I presume it's sort of good news that I have a case officer now so what the hell, beer tonight ! :cheers :cheers

Nick,
If you don't mind my asking, what didn't they like about your bosses' letters, etc.? Were they on plain paper? Didn't give enough detail? Or what?

All the best! Have a pint for me!
Cheers,
Matt.

Hi,
they were on plain paper, did not specify exact working hours (although they did say worked full time). They obviously require every little detail. My letters did specify my duties etc but I guess I will have to start again.
I got the printout of my NI contributions which prove I have worked since leaving school and have the first few letters of each employer but they say that it doesn't have dates and working hours on so not what they really want.
Hope this helps
Nick :cheers

Yep! sure does. Cheers for your time, Nick.
One of our employer letters has all the details NZIS wants, I think, but it has a business card from her ownership days clipped to it with name of letter-writer, because she no longer owns the business and so can't use current headed paper. And the new owner hardly knows my wife to give her a real reference.
But the business card has previous owner's name and she chucked onto both all manner of mailing, e-mail and phone details. And there's a sentence explaining the sale of the business and the contact info. for new owner. So it's pretty clearly not a fake letter.
We'll see!

Cheers again,
Matt.

Hi nickbraddock. I really do sympathise with you at the moment :( My husband has recently been through the same rigmarole as you. Most of our references had to be rewritten. The employers that did'nt have letterheaded paper had to sign a Statutory Declaration. If you would like to pm me i can email you a draft copy of reference's and Statutory Declarations.

Hubby contracted for ages (I mean years and years) and he has signed original contracts - are these going to be accepted as references/proof of work?? Or does he need a ref from each of the "employers"? Worried now....

eeekk, we've done the same and got that (rather complicated) print out from the IR.

I was looking at everything yesterday and realised that Frodo will have been in his job for 8 yrs in June and as we're claiming for 'more than 8 yrs less than 10' I'm hoping that they're not going to make a big deal out of it for the sake of a couple of months!

Hi
With hubby being a bricky on various sites no contracts were sighned, that's why we needed references. You dont need one off every employer but obviosly the more the better.

Moorf.
Dont know what your hubby does. Circumstances might be different for him, although they may want to know how many years, duties, hours worked etc, he has been working in each company(If this is included in contracts it might be ok)

Milliemoo.
when we contacted the IR they were only willing to give me the last six years tax returns. Luckily i contacted my accountant who had records going back 13 yrs. NZIS wanted to see 12yrs accounts and we are claiming for 20yrs.

This maybe a stupid question and i apologise for going off topic, but where is the option for claiming for 20 years work experience, and how many points do you get for that. All the point indicators i have seen have the maximum claimable set at 10 years work experience.

P.S. Hope you get all your references Nick, it just takes a bit of time and patience. :nice1

Adrian

so is 'he gave up his life for 5.5 years and shockingly little recompense' too vague?

Hi Adrian

I don't know all the ins and outs, an emigration company are dealing with our PR.
Because i have been a sub-contractor for the last 20 years proof of this is needed it does'nt mean to say i'll get awarded for the full amount of years.

Sorry if this confuses you it sure as h*ll confuses us.

"For your employment we would require letters from the companies on headed paper confirming your hours and job description or contracts of employment or pay slips/P60's. The National insurance printout is helpful but unfortunately doesn’t show hours, start/finish dates or what the employment was. For your period of self employment - a copy of your end of year accounts would be acceptable."

That was the quote from the e-mail I received from NZIS for info
Cheers
