When our shipping agent in the UK informed us that The Moving Company were going to handle the collection and delivery in NZ I was to say the least a bit concerned especially after reading some of the threads on this forum. :roll
However I was assured that everything would be alright so here is our experience with TMC.
I first had contact from the Moving Company by letter on the 10th April welcoming us to NZ & confirming that they would be acting for us through customs and arranging delivery of our furniture and belongings.
Of course the clearance inspection fee ($184.50) was also requested at this point. We had been informed by our UK shipper “Mark Chudley” that this would happen. So paperwork and cheque duly sent back. So far so good!
I had been tracking our container thanks to info from this forum. It arrived at Wellington Docks and was discharged from the vessel on the 22 April 08.
I was advised by “Mark Chudley” (Our Uk shipper)to allow 10 to 14 days for it to clear customs and for T MC to contact me. So quite happy when on Tuesday 6 May I had a telephone call from the Moving Company and a very nice lady informed me that our container had cleared customs and would be delivered soon, there was a slight hick up with them loosing the cheque we posted, but that was sorted by an on line payment direct to them.
I was informed that I would receive an email by the end of that day with a delivery date, I felt they were indeed trying to be as helpful as they could.
Sure enough I did and the delivery date was for last Friday 9th May early pm. I was informed that a phone call nearer the arrival time would be made.
I arranged to be here all day and OH took a half day off work……Now you are thinking at this point here we go, another nightmare story! However! You would be wrong.
I had a couple of phone calls to keep me informed of the arrival time and TMC arrived when they said they would, were very courteous and efficient off loading our processions‘. They unpacked all large items of furniture and placed in the rooms required, took away all the wrapping and would have unpacked every carton, but we are in a rental and most of the cartons will stay packed until we shift again.
I am very happy to place this thread and hopefully put some people at ease in the UK or folk already over here waiting for their stiff to arrive that have been worried about this company. They can, and did a good job for us.
The wonderful thing about this site is that we are able to post our experiences and for us thankfully is a happy one. Well done to TMC.!:clap
Oh!… to sleep in our own bed with our duck down duvet, and to have our things about us - pure bliss!:)
