Our phone is with Telecom NZ, and just lately we seem to be having been having one or two 'funny' phone calls. In the UK we used to be able to do 1471 through BT to check if the caller had witheld or disclosed the number they were calling from.

Sorry, I don't know if they provide this facility in NZ.

They do provide a facility called "Caller Display" which we use, that will show who is calling before you answer the call and also keeps a list of recent callers (assuming that you have a phone that supports this feature).

But it does cost a few dollars a month.

BTW, it is possible to block your number being sent out if you want to remain anonymous (except to the operator or emergency services).

Is that funny calls is the person hang up after you spoken? and have you just moved?
If yes, you will be expect few more for few months before it will stop! Once people realise it is not their friend/family's number anymore :roll
Be prepare for 2am/3am calls!!!:roll
