We've almost completed OH's EOI, however we're stuck on the 'Recognised Qualifications' section (F)... does OH need to send her nursing diplomas and certificates to NZQA for assessment?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks :nice1

Not sure if this is right but I was under the impression that you needed to be registered with NZNC and then you don't need to get your quals assessed.

I'm sure someone will be along soon who has actually been through the process to either confirm or blow me out of the water!!! :uhoh :exit

Best of luck with it all.

I asked this question at the Leeds Expo. Registration with the Nursing Council removes the need to go through NZQA.
Also. early registration prevents any panic when submitting the ITA - registration can sometimes take 6 months or longer depending on the backlog.
I've almost completed our EOI but won't submit it until my registration comes through. I'm waiting for my police check at the moment.
We're in no rush anyway as we need to do work on the house before selling.

Ditto above. No need to be assessed by NZQA but you do need your NZNC reistration to submit your EOI. Your qualification is assessed by NZNC as part of the registration process hence the need for them to get the transcript from Uni and statment from the NMC.

Mmmm, I'm confused... nursing agency has told us to prepare OH's EOI in readiness for receiving NZNC's allocation/application number (we should receive this in about 2 or 3 weeks time). Upon receiving this, nursing agency has advised us to submit our EOI and await for NZNC to approve and register OH, but as you've advised and we're also aware, this is going to take anywhere in the region of 3 to 6 months and will mess up timescales with regards receiving and submitting our ITA.

Think I'll email the nursing agency and query what they're advising.

Thanks all for the advice and information :)

By the book you should have your nursing registration BEFORE you submit an EOI. I must admit I didn't but it all worked out.

If you gain full registration in New Zealand then the registering body is considered to have accepted that your qualification is at an appropriate level and you would not need to get your qualification assessed by the NZQA.

Get your Reg sent ASAP.

If I remember rightly I received a letter from NZNC a long while before they completed my registration that had my registration number on it. For the EOI you don't have to show evidence of your registration. Maybe if you could email the NZNC and ask for the number this would enable you to submit your EOI and by the time you receive your ITA you should have your registration. Alternatively try contacing INZ and asking if you really need to put the number down.

Tim... OH's application for NZNC registration was posted last week, fingers crossed for a quick turnaround :roll

nickydwuk... I think this is what the nursing agency is getting at, they mentioned we should receive an application number from the NZNC within 2 weeks of receiving OH's application. Once received, add to our EOI and submit... I'll double check with them during the next week or so.

Thanks again all... it's fun 'n' games this immigration malarkey, and we're only at the easy bit :D

Tim... just noticed how quick your nursing registration took, that's some turnaround as most folk are having to wait months :roll

Yeah, you're right, I didn't have my reg when I submitted the EOI. I just wrote "pending" as didn't even have a ref. number at that time. I got the ref. number after I sent in the initial application, they ask you to quote it on every piece of info or doc you send in, they reckon it makes it easier for them to keep all your stuff together. Even though they still kept losing all of my stuff.

On the bright side, once they had all my stuff, they processed it in around a month. The big delays seem to be caused by them losing or "not receiving" docs. I'm also pretty sure that the ref. number was different from the actual reg number, but I could be wrong.

I'm an Anaesthetic Tech not Nurse, so there's not too many of us to deal with thankfully. The do seem slow for nurses for some reason.
I mean if you are already registered with NMC surly that’s proof enough you would think.

... my OH's sentiments exactly, the length of time it takes to get registered you could have PR sorted :roll

I am so glad I found your posts. OH has applied for a job and I wanted to send off EOI asap but I am very confused re the NZQA part of the form. I think I understand that you have to wait for the registration before you send in the EOI. Is it a big deal without it or does it impact your EOI in some way?
I have some of my nursing registration sent off but am waiting on certified copy of my passports before I can send the final package.
Thanks

Not sure if you can submit your EOI without a registration number. You could always email the NZNC and they may be able to give you a registration number to use. They sent me a letter shortly after I sent my application to let me know that they had received my application - this letter had my registration number on. Worth a try :)

That's just reminded me....I need to chase NZNC for my APC application pack, original one ran out 30th June.....

Mine seemed to take forever...see signature! I did have problems though. My advice would be to keep ringing or emailing to check how things are going. I had an initial letter to say that they'd received my application and that they were just waiting on references. I knew my referees had sent them but for some reason they didn't arrive!? Felt like I was constantly bugging my boss and colleagues to resend!
