Hi guys!

I would be really grateful if anyone could spare some thoughts to a question I have regarding immigration?

I have applied for a skilled migrant and have been automatically drawn in the last pool for my EOI (H'ray!) without a job offer.

I was wondering... if I get and return an IVA and that is processing ok, could I get out to NZ from the UK on a holiday visa and then pay the migrant levi once out there if PR gets granted?

My thinking would be that this:
a) would get us to go out earlier
b) for some reason, if NZ realy wasn't for us - we could come back without paying the migrant levi ($900 for us!)

Thank you!

I see nobody has answered this one. It is a bit of a curly one, really.

I can't see why not..... but...

1. you may have a problem getting the sticker put in your passport if you are not in the issuing country

2. if NZIS wants more info and you are not in the UK to deal with it you might find the process grinds to a halt

3. if the process takes a long time you might have to leave NZ before the sticker is issued.

I may be completely wrong, and all of these are unable to be a problem, but these are potential sticking points that came to mind when reading your post. The only way to really know would be to ask NZIS, I suppose.

Hi Nick88,

Thank you for your response. It was only an idea - I think we will probably end up waiting as there is so much stuff to sort out anyway.

Your points were great food for thought - thank you.
