Yes, I definitely did it - I said 'yes' to an offer of 4hrs paid work a week at my son's school helping with the PMP classes (Perceptual Motor Programme). Its not going to pay a lot (not surprised) but I think it will be fun, especially as my wee man is going to be doing the class on a Monday.
He is in Yr 2 and they don't usually do PMP but because of his developmental problems they feel it would be useful for him to do one session a week.
Here's hoping I can find something else to do to fit around this, or maybe that the school might offer me some more hours. Better get my IRD number sorted then I guess!

Hi there,
I helped with PMP at m y kids' school last year for the whole term, never been paid though ! It is actually good fun and it gives you the chance to get to know the children. I became rather attached to them after a while. PMP might seem very basic and repetitive at first but it really does teach new skills to children and it does help those less physically confident, I think it is a good programme.
Well done, enjoy it !

Congratulations and who knows where this may lead? It could be an opening for you to eventually do more.

Well done Anneliese :clap lucky you get paid, I do it for love at my daughters school :D but its such a great feeling when the children achieve something after a couple of weeks of trying or sometimes longer but their huge grin is worth every penny (oops cent) Enjoy I'm sure you will.

Well done!
How does he feel about Mum being his teacher!? :D
My oldest is always nagging me as "I don't do parent help like all the other mothers". I told him "its a good time for him to learn that I'm not like all the other mothers". :laugh
Cheers

Thanks everyone! I helped out at the session yesterday and it was really good fun and very interesting. The school are paying me (not much) as they needed some back up for the teacher who usually does the sessions. She doesn't always have enough parent helpers and also it will be useful for the school to know there is somebody there who can set things up etc. if she is sick/running late.
I plan to prove I'm commited and reliable in the hope that it might lead to more hours. In fact Diana who does the PMP classes said to me 'once you're in you never know, it might lead to extra hours' so fingers crossed.
Tia - I don't think Joe realises quite yet whats going on, it will be interesting to see what his concentration is like when I'm around! :laugh
Thanks again,
Anneliese
