Hello there
I've been looking at posts on this site for what feels like years now, but have only now taken the plunge and joined. My husband, 4 year old son and I arrived in NZ in January. We originate from London, but spent 2007 living in Sydney. Since arriving in NZ we've been renting in Ohoka whilst our house is being built in Rangiora. We finally have a move date for the end of June which we are pretty excited about. Ohoka has been a great experience as is the only time we have ever lived rurally, but we're looking forward to town living again.
We would love hear from anyone settled in, or planning to move to, Rangiora.
Cheers
Dawn.

Hi June,
feel free to send me a PM, (I also live in Ohoka), but there are whole raft of forumites living in Rangiora, so you'll be in good company when you do move and we tend to have Christchurch meets every now and then.. (less in winter sadly!)

Hi Dawn,
Just wanted to welcome you to the forum, congratulations on finally taking the plunge :p ! I guess if you've been lurking for a while, there's not much need to say what a useful and friendly place this is, is there :laugh ?
Congratulations on the move date, you must be thrilled ! May you experience much joy and happiness in your new home !
Cheers,
Silver

A Rangiora coffee meet sounds good. Thanks for all the welcomes. Although I have read many posts over the months, I don't know what a PM is or how to do it? I'm not known for my IT ability.....

Sorry Dawn (no idea where June came from!) - Moorf is dead right, being pregnant has turned my brain to mush. yesterday I came home to find the back door wide open and I'd left the house unlocked all day. Good job, I'm not in the UK!
by the way - a PM is a private message - a bit like e-mail, you should see a link in the top right hand corner. Just lets you communicate with someone on the forum without posting it publicly, which is handy if swapping addresses or phone no's etc..

Hi again Dawn,
A PM is a Private Message and you can send one by clicking on the username of the person you wish to send it to (top left of every post). Doing that reveals several options, one of which is "Send a Private Message".
In your case the option doesn't come up yet when clicking your username, I believe because you need to have made at least five posts (I think ?) before anyone can PM you.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Silver

Thanks for the tips, hopefully the option will come up soon and I can send a PM.
Pip, no worries about the June reference, it is actually my mum's name and I wondered if I had signed off the wrong name! I also went out the other day and left the back door unlocked, so my brain has definitely gone to mush and I am not pregnant.
Cheers

Hey Dawn
Welcome along from us too :)
We've been in NZ since January and Rangiora for the last couple of months and really enjoying it so far :yes We've got two boys 6 and 3 with birthdays coming up soon and they love living here. If you need any info on schools, kindy, playcentre etc drop me a PM and I'll try my best to help out. Otherwise I'd be happy to host a wee coffee morning if folks are up for it and don't mind my dodgy (read beginner) baking :D

Thanks Karen
When I'm allowed to start sending PM's I will get in touch.
I came over last November from Sydney to sort a few things out and was lucky to find a new kindy not fully booked so that ones sorted. It's school for Jack next year and we're in the Ashgrove School catchment area, but def interested in any advice re schools.
I'm up for a coffee morning and would be happy to contribute with some of my dodgy baking too.
Cheers

and I'm up for a coffee morning - just don't be surprised if I use salt instead of sugar or forget some key ingrediant!
..hmm - maybe I'd just better buy something from Rangiora bakery instead :D

Friday is good for us. If it's in the morning it'll just be me (and maybe Mike, my husband, who hasn't started his job yet) as Jack is at kindy, or the afternoon it'll be Jack and I (or maybe the 3 of us). Let me know if Friday works. Cheers. PS Just got back from an overnight stay at Hanmer for the first time and really loved it. Only 1.5 hours away so how lucky are we??

Hanmer is great, isn't it, an affordable spa and mountain resort right on our doorsteps. :nice1
Thought I'd bump this thread up seeing as we're looking at Friday this week.....

Friday afternoon fine with me but need to slope off about 2.30 to pick up wee man from school so that doesn't give us much time with Pip swimming - what about the following week??

good for me.. but suggest you guys settle on a date that works for all of you, and I'll just fit in if I can, as its pretty much a case of 'baby due in the next few days', so circumstances may mean I can't make it anyway!

Ah, unfortunately I am out of the country next week so cannot make any day. We could stick with this Friday for a lunchtime meet (all bring sandwiches or contribute something) or I'll have to catch up the week after next. It's always so tricky making arrangements!

OK why not Friday say 12.30 (does that work for you Pip?) - light lunch bites say chips and dips or something?? Should really do this by PM or new fangled message thingy but gets a bit completed... If we leave it till the following week Pip will be a plus 1 on the invite :D
