Hi all
Just thought I'd share what has happened to us with good old Pickfords. We chose Pickfords to do our move to NZ because surprisingly they were the cheapest and offered a good service. At the time we thought we would be having the goods sent to Dunedin but told them that this could change to an area close by. They said this was fine and may change the price SLIGHTLY. So OH ended up getting a job in Christchurch and we let them know the change in plans. Lo and behold the price has gone up 900 pounds!! They have told me that the extra costs are due to the change in port. OK I said then I'll just send the goods to Dunedin as planned and make arrangements to get them to Christchurch myself. I was then told that if I did this the insurance would be void unless I wanted to get everything out on the docks or arrange delivery to an address in Dunedin! In the end they have taken 200 pounds off the quote but it's still an extra 700 that we are going to have to pay.
I guess the moral of the story is try to make sure you know where you are going!:o
