I've posted this here because I couldn't think where else to put it and it isn't something that you'ld generally think of while going through the process of emigrating.

If you type without looking at the keys you are probably used to your UK computer keyboard. The NZ or OZ keyboard layout isn't exactly the same. As I am at home and not at work, I can't remember all the differences but @ and " aren't in the same places along with other stuff.

It's worth packing a couple of £10 keyboards to take to work after a few days to make you feel at home.

Thanks for the tip! I'm always amazed when I'm working at overseas sites just how much time I waste staring at the keyboard trying to find the '@' key!

I'm used to that. I use a lot of virtual computers with Foreign keyboards. Reversing the @ and " is a US layout. You can configure it so the characters are in their UK positions, but of course the markings on the keys would be wrong.

What I find really annoying is that on a UK keyboard you will find a $ sign but on a NZ keyboard you don't get a pound sign (I'm working on a NZ keyboard) at home and work and it's so frustrating.

If you need a pound-sign when it's not on your keyboard, hit Alt, then type 156 (on the number keyboard off to the right, not the numbers up at the top of the board, with Num Lock on). You'll then get your £ where the cursor is.
