Hey guys!
Well, what can I say... I'm really impatient, although with this question, I am claiming to be overly eager!
I had a selected EOI drawn on 7th May 08 (had 140 points) - how long did people have to wait to get an indication if their ITA arrived?
I'm greatful for your thoughts!

See our progress too, I think it also depends on whether you have a job offer too.

I'd say 4 to 6 weeks. It feels like forever waiting! But it will come.

It seems to be at least 6 weeks without an offer. Our times as per below - my recent Offer of Employment hasnt got anything charged up just yet either. Tomorrow I will start calling at their expensive rate number to see if I can expedite the process.

Don't forget the following inexpensive number is supposed to also work...
01344 71 61 99
Haven't had reason to try it yet so no idea if it works...

140 points, job offer, took me 4-6 weeks. Can't remember for sure.
Without a job offer it would likely be longer, even with high points.

They are prioritising those applicants with job offers.

Sure, and that is the right thing to do. I just thought we would have heard something 8 weeks later...

Wow, thanks guys for all the info.
I was thinking of organising my medical exams for about 6 weeks after my EOI was selected... does anyone know what the time expiration is on these or even if they are valid before an ITA is issued?
.....I know.... I'm pretty impatient! :)

ello - your medicals are only valid for 3 months (until you submit them with your ITA, at which point they stop counting) but you have 4 months to return your ITA once you have received it, so if you're unsure and not in a total mad rush you might want to wait on that :)

...
Not that it is important but the medicals once submitted are actually only valid for 2 years so they do keep counting :p If for some reason that they haven't managed to process your visa application in this time then you may be asked to submit a new medical - never heard this actually happen though.

Okay...so I'm going stir crazy! I used to think I had alot of patience, but now I'm not so sure. And the refresh button is a goner! It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow that the EOI got selected (190 points with job offer) and I am going completely mad. Can someone please tell me this is a perfectly respectable timeline and that I don't need to be fitted for the white jacket and padded room!:laugh

You have very high points and a job offer. Going on the timeframes people mention here, I would expect something to arrive in the next two weeks. Or you could ring them up or send a general email!

I am curious though - if you had a job offer but then had to wait as long as 3-6 months between your EOI application and ITA submission, wouldn't your prospective employer be waiting too long? Or would you have gone to NZ on a work visa first?
I am asking because I am not sure if I should apply for EOI first and get the application process started, or get a job offer first before I hit the EOI button.

When I had my interview in April, they did ask me when I would be expecting to be in NZ. I told them I was hoping for Sept-Oct and they did not have a problem at all with that timeline. I am planning on calling NZIS when I get home from work to see if I can find anything out, because I will need to hand in my resignation by mid to late July. Maybe I'll have to see about getting a work visa while PR is going through (not quite sure how that works though).
If you have enough points Spooky, I would think why not go ahead and submit your EOI. I will admit that I wish I had hit that submit button a little sooner, but I delayed it a bit because I was waiting on my registration. And you can always add a job offer at a later date.

So if I understand you correctly, I should just submit my EOI and while waiting for ITA, I can always submit my job offer to speed up the process? I have 165 points by the way, based on the quick calculation I did.
I have another question - should I apply or should my hubby apply? We both have the same EOI points. Or does it depend on who can secure a job faster? He's worked in education and health - me, just education - for the last 10 years.

if you have 165 points wihtout a job offer I would certainly say submit your EOI now :)
not sure it really makes a lot of difference in your case which is the main applicant - unless one of you has a qualification that is already on the recognised list and the other doesn't :)
