bit of a mix-up with potential consequence

daughters eu passport is french (father french but lives in oz) and her canadian one has expired (birth citizenship). as cdn process is so bureaucratic we use french one. last issue they got names wrong and put fathers name hyphen mine on it instead of his followed by 'nom d'usage renfrew' (mine). the name doesn't exist! after all the palaver i just ignored it and so far no trouble while traveling. i am still trying to retriev custody doc from embassy (which i knew they shouldn't keep but try convincing a frenchman he's wrong) so know cannot have passport changed in time. has anyone had anything like this happen and what did they do?

re. custody doc - if cannot get notorised form back is there another way to prove custody?

follow-up. pr is issued in name in passport so make sure the childs passport is in preferred name! as nzis pointed out, if pr is granted in another 'convenient' name the child will have problems all the time as the name will not match that on other docs. this was, amazingly, not obvious to us. we are now renewing the non-eu one with the right name in a hurry at great expense...

Good luck Leslie. Sounds like one piece of red tape after another. Hope you get the new passport in time.
When are you and Max off to NZ? Can't be too far off now!!

fortunately the two of us are off to visit my 97 yr old grandmother in ottawa, canada, next week. she may be blind but she is determined to 'see' max! even for the best-sighted he's a blur at best, but at least she'll hear him. i can take care of both canadian docs nzis require within 2 days by being there! believe that is referred to as synchronicity...

we are off for real later in may. if i dont get my a** in gear we'll be following the other two. now the urgent thing is to get the stamp in passport prior to leaving for nz (need can doc's to do that) as it will make everything masses easier. if we were going in high season i'd be a whole lot less chilled about dates, but as it is planes should be awash with seats and we can book late. the only potential prob for those of us arriving late may/ early june is that sad, pathetic RUGBY tour. i mean rugby, honestly... the only real alternative for those who cannot knit.
