I'm getting a little fed up with waiting to hear something from NZIS since we were selected on 9th April. :( Just wanted to ask if anyone else who was selected that day has heard anything. We don't have a job offer with our EOI, and yes I know the London site says up to 3 months, but I'm really getting (keep it clean) fed up of waiting
To top it off I also haven't heard from the telephone interview I had on 30th April!! :no How does one chase up a CEO politely? :roll

I'm afraid I may just add to your 'fed up-ness' of waiting by saying we were selected on 26th March with 145 points but also no job offer and we are all still waiting to hear anything!
Obviously they have to prioritise people with job offers first, but I guess I'm just hoping the rest of us don't have to wait the full 3 months to find out.
Best of luck though.
Where are you planning to head to in NZ?

Where are you planning to head to in NZ?
Hi, well I have family in Christchurch, so that sort of area would be my first choice I guess. However, if either OH or myself were to get a job offer we are prepared to settle elsewhere.
As our house sale is planned (fingers crossed) to complete on 30th May and we will be going over on a tourist visa very shortly after that day, I'd hoped we would hear something before then from NZIS. Seems I was being a bit optimistic perhaps.:roll
How are your plans going for you?
Rorschach
21st May 2008, 06:34 AM
Not as far ahead as you. Now the housing market is weakening and the pound is also weak, we are thinking of renting out our house in the UK initially - at least until one of the two above factors changes back in our favour.
We were hoping to arrange everything upfront and then be able to go to NZ and look for work and we are also heading for ChCh (we have friends there already).
However, OH is still wavering about whether its the right thing to do.
Still I'm a bit of a believer in trying to 'push doors' and see if they open for you.
If you've had an interview 3 weeks ago, wouldn't it be ok to enquire if there was any more news?
I wish you every success - both job & ITA!

I've chased up the CEO who interviewed me all that time ago, by email. Very gently asked if she had an idea of when I might hear of her decision. Had an interesting response by email from her, saying how difficult it's been to contact me due to my being in the UK. Funny how that didn't seem a problem when they were interviewing??
She said she'd make a big effort to call me this evening (her time).....but hasn't:no Said she didn't want to keep me hanging on....so I'm guessing that means I've not got it.
Bit surprised at how a large public company is handling this. Not very professional IMHO. Or perhaps this is the way of life in NZ????
And I still haven't heard anything from NZIS:(
Sorry for being a whinger, totally fed up at mo. White chocolate here I come.

From the sounds of it, you're probably right re. the job offer. I would also agree that in general companies in NZ don't quite have the same level of professional organisation, but on the other hand, that might be some of the appeal.
Still, 120 points without a job offer should help. I've read (via this forum) that NZ needs to grow from 4m people to about 5.1m in the next 40 or so years - so they do want good people, even if they are bit disorganised in getting there!
I'm sure you will make it happen.
Enjoy the white chocolate!

I got an enquiry today in an email from NZIS London with respect to my work experience as there was an issue with what I had claimed (10 years +) and what was listed. Hi
Same here with 125 pts, selected on 9/Apr/08 under this criteria:
"135 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 120 or more but less than 140. These EOIs did not claim points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand, work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage or for a qualification in an area of absolute skill shortage. These EOIs were ranked in descending order of points."
Good luck to us all... :)

We're in the same boat.
Selected on 9th April with 105 pts, added job offer on the 21 May which is on the LTSS (now around 170 pts), and still nothing!!! So much for fast track!!

We are in the same boat (selected 9 apr, no job offer), and just heard from a case officer today. She advised that the ITA pack should arrive in 2-3 weeks. Yay!!
It wasn't all good news though - she warned us rather sternly that we will not be granted residency until I can show proof of registration with the New Zealand Law Society OR that I have a job offer for skilled employment not requiring registration. This is because my skilled employment and qualification is as a lawyer/solicitor, and one can't practice law in NZ without registration. We knew I needed to get registered, but hadn't grasped the timing of it... The NZLS application is pretty much ready to send out (luckily), so I'll be getting that off right away.
Happy to hear some news, but already nervous about meeting deadlines!! it's going to be an interesting ride for sure...

Hi Lindsay,
It is nice to hear good news about your EOI.
I do hope that you meet the deadline and that everything works well in your ITA.:)
Well for my case, I still haven't heard any news from my CO (based in Thailand) ever since they requested & received copy of my full NZQA assessment last 24Apr.
My skilled employment is in IT. However, my qualification as assessed by NZQA is only level4 and not IT related. I'm still hoping that they will consider my application based on the criteria of 9Apr fortnightly selection...

How many points do you have?
Do you have job offer?

Put that postie down!!! If its any consilation we have gone from being obsessive about watching our status, into a land of the unknown where we are struggling to get the info we need from London!! It seems like Mark has to do a one day course in London (but another Lecky has said they only run twice a year!!!). Getting on to it today!!

I fully agree with you Kerry... It is really hard to get a job offer from overseas if you don't undergo face to face interview with employers in New Zealand. I have been in touch with several local IT recruiters there and their advise is for me to contact them once I visit New Zealand and to also update them about the progress of our EOI.
Thanks a lot for your encouragement for hopefuls like us.:nice1

Do not lose hope. When a CO does not communicate with you initially, it means he/she doesn't have any doubts with the EOI you submitted. Your EOI may either be under credential verification or may already be in queue for their Supervisor's approval. I've learned about this from their call center and from the 1st CO who handled my EOI.
Based on my experience, the first CO who handled my case was very quick to inform me by email within 5 weeks of being selected, that they are lowering my EOI points and that I will not be sent an ITA based on selection criteria of Feb14. :no
When my EOI was again selected on April9, the 2nd CO emailed me within 2 weeks to request copy of my full NZQA full assessment which I have declared in my EOI.
Then came the good news yesterday that CO have recommended an ITA for us. :) I just hope that ITA he recommended is for permanent residency and not wtr.:roll
Be positive always and good luck to all of us..:nice1

Hmmm, I'm guessing the response times are different for various countries, i.e. SA, UK, USA etc.
As far as I can tell from the UK - without a job offer it takes around 6-8 weeks to get from selected to successful/ ITA... is that a fairly accurate assumption?

5th June 2008, 05:51 AM
Yep, seems to be about right compared to recent comments on the forum.
Part of our frustration is that OH has to register with the NZ Nursing Council, which takes anywhere in the region of 3 to 6 months  Coupled with this, OH is hoping to land a position at Christchurch hospital, however they're hesitating interviewing her at the moment as her nursing registration is in it's infancy with the Nursing Council... so unfortunately we'll have to submit our EOI (next week) without a job offer and hope that we'll get good news based on OH's qualifications and experience (she's the principle applicant).
Life's never easy is it... well at least not with us :roll
Good luck to all those that are still awaiting decisions with EOI's :nice1

That would mean we would possibly hear something this week.....9th June would be 2 months from being selected. The one positive is I've been able to contact previous employers for proof of work experience in the mean time.

Hi Red Devil,
Time consuming things include:
FULL Birth certificates for ALL applicants i.e. must have parents’ names on.
Police Cert, less than 6 months old.
Medical & Xray docs less than 3 months old.
Letter from work confirming what you do and hours worked etc.
Offer of employment.
Proof of relationship. i.e. Marriage cert plus joint bill etc.
Passports for all applicants with at least 12 months remaining I think.
Two passport sized photos per applicant.
Degree/Diploma Certs etc
Registration docs if applicable?
I found it easiest to send all the originals together with a photocopy.
If you get all this ready, you could get it returned pretty rapid.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Glad to hear you've had a response!
We received our ITA yesterday. It was sent from London on the 18th of June. At last!
We had counted on getting it sent off pretty soon, as we only needed to complete our medicals before having all our documentation in order. But weren't we in for a surprise!? It turns out we need af full assessment of our qualifications (Danish educations, not on the list of recognized qualifications in NZ), even though we're not claiming any bonus points (only basic education) for them. We had a pre-assessment done, and thought that was enough - it wasn't .
So now we have to go through one more timeconsuming and expensive procedure....the delays just keep piling up. Sometimes, it's hard to imagine, that we'll ever get there. Oh well - summer holidays coming up, so we'll just relax and let things happen at their own pace. (Doctor is closed for holidays soon anyway, so our medicals wil probably end up just as delayed)
At least we are now that crucial step closer. And it was a relief when we finally had our hands on the ITA!

Seems like some confusion in your post.
I think your CO meant that at this time the minimum points selected out of the pool was 120 and I'm guessing that when they checked your EOI that they have reduced the points you have claimed down to 115, so you shouldn't have been selected yet and have been put back into the pool.
If the points selected drops to 115 or less then you will again be selected, so hopefully you will just have to wait longer.
Of course if you can secure a job offer then you can amend your EOI and will be selected without any problems.
