I was sat working on my laptop, OH was watching TV and we heard this rumbling, roaring sound... bit like several helicopters all hovering at once...

I walked up to the beach and the waves are huge!!! The tide tables reckon it was high tide at 22:20 (roughly when we first heard it) and it's full moon tonight (does that make a difference??)

We've only been here a few months, and never heard it like this before!

I thought it might have been a tsunami!!! Glad I'm wrong :)

Tides are are their most extreme (highest and lowest) at the full moon..but the sea is not necessarily more restless at full moon.

Enjoy the life and breath of the sea!

Yes, I'm on the hills across the highway, and I can see the ocean from the house -- big waves! And the moon on the water was beautiful before dawn this AM.
