Hi everyone!

By any chance can anyone offer any advice on medical costs. We live in the North West but dont mind travelling a little further if it means getting the medicals slightly cheaper. I have been told one in Manchester charges £280 each! Is that the norm or does that seem expensive?

Thanks

Tony

Range is from around £230 to £300 and if you need extra blood tests you can add on another £50 to £80 per adult. Kids are cheaper but not by much. Mine was £250 plus £70 for extra bloods at the Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead. There are other threads on here with more info would suggest you do a search good luck :cheers

It really varies so phone a few and shop around. We paid

Adult medical £90
Child medical £70
Bloods £110
Xray £40

so 1 adult =£240

Carlisle panel Dr. Can recommend him, very professional and knew what he was doing. No probs with paperwork, returned quickly.

We were charged £260 per adult with £40 for an extra blood test. Children without bloods were £100. We had to book another appointment at £40 to collect the medicals but as my daughter had a problem with her x-ray the doctor never got round to asking for it.

Hi Tony... yep, you're looking at £300 maximum per adult (so long as there's no complications). We're probably going to use Dr Million in Manchester when the time is right... heard good reports from forum members who've used him previously.

Good luck :nice1

I've just started to phone around for prices for medicals.

I nearly had a hairy fit yesterday.... do you know, I mean, DO YOU KNOW how much they want in Aberdeen?

Up to £420 EACH! That's daylight robbery.

It varies from £205 to £280 for the medical and £140 for the xrays...

Y'see, the thing is, the private companies up here ASSUME you are in OIL, and that the oil company will be paying (usually for offshore medicals) and charge accordingly..... GRRRRRRRRRR

I'm going to try the Inverness and Dundee centres for costs today...

Needs must, but we'll be on rice and water rashions till we move at this rate!

Well, thats us booked in for ours in Inverness! Now, I am not saying I am a tight fisted scot, but I am astounded at the prices. When I spoke to Perth they were happy to see us but then when I spoke to the radiology dept they told me I needed a referral letter from my GP!

I told them that wasnt the case and have since booked with Inverness.

Not only are they they cheapest for their x-rays, but I can get it all done on one day with no hassle - and it means we can visit Mr G's folks at the same time! Result!

Just as well I was on holiday last week, I did as much walking that I lost nearly half a stone! Boost!

Now, I just need to remember 'no alcohol' on the weekend leading up to the medical on the 19th

Wish us luck....

We've been quoted £180 each (adult), £50 each (child) and £55 each (X-ray). That's including the extra blood tests. At the time I thought this was expensive, but having read the above I shall change my mind and stop grumbling =)

The Xrays are at Bristol Muscoloskeletal Centre and the medicals will be booked at Penn Hill practice in Somerset. It's a bit of a drive but the savings on the medical cost will make it worth it! (currently in North Bristol at M4/M5 interchange so relatively easy to get to most places).

I agree te price you have is good, i phoned round everywhere in the yorkshire area and the cheapest I found and paid was £100 adult medical, £60 kids, £75 xray & £82 basic bloods. So go for it, I think its a good deal.
