Hi,
We are planning to move to Wellington early next year. When is the earliest time I can start looking for jobs? A job is being advertised now which might suit me. Is it too early to apply?
Thanks
-una
PS. I don't have a visa yet.

Hello Una!
Especially without a visa or work permit it may be very difficult to land a job whilst not in the country. It all depends on your trade. If your skills are sought after then it may not be impossible.
Good luck!

All recruiters and hr depts get a lot of job applications from overseas applicatants, unless as said above your trade, skill or experience is highly sought after, you're probably not going to get much of a response...Once they know you're in NZ and available for interview/work they'll jump on you if you've got a good cv. No harm in applying for it anyway just to see what happens though.

As I am finding, even when in the country it is not easy to secure job offers especially if you do not have a visa allowing you to work.

Just got proof how important the visa is!
We will arrive in NZ on 19 June with PR. I had applied for a job online on 2 May, not expecting much of it. Received a phone call from NZ yesterday morning asking if I was interested in video interview and would I be available to start 1 July. And that's for a PA Job :D
A real confidence boost for me because finding a job has been my main worry.

That happened because you had PR, getting a job is easy after that, however if you need a work visa in order to work then it is a whole lot different let me tell you.
