Hi everyone

I am another new arrival looking for a place to live in Auckland :roll

There are a few threads and posts on communities in the South, such as Manurewa. Sometimes it sounds to me that these areas have a few downsides. I am wondering what they might be and especially how they would affect my life if I would live there. Having a couple of break-ins into my flat and car a year? Partying neighbours all nite long? Untidy streets? Poor choice in the supermarkets? Gang wars? Etc.?

As I am going to study in Auckland, I look for a cheap flat to rent (around $ 250 per week), quiet location and easy commuting (by train) into the city.

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions, thoughts - especially from locals with up-to-date experience.

Cheers, bee

My husband teaches in Manurewa & many of the teenagers he teaches have gang affiliations. There are regularly fights in the park across from the school (outside of school hours). I have been told by Aucklanders of all colours that they would not want to walk around in many parts of Manurewa & Papetoe at night time. I imagine these parts will be where you find the cheapest rentals. My husband was advised by the principle & other teachers, not to live in Manurewa.

Best Wishes, Fi.

Yes, misleading advert. Actually I phoned the agent and it was a misprint. "House" should actually have read "spouse". Probably not worth a further look.

This was a joke from another thread Bee, so don't worry if you haven't a clue what Ourquest & Morph are on about.
