Does anyone have any experience of when the NZIS will start contacting your current employer (for proof you work there etc).

Obviously I want to continue working with my current company right up till the last minute (as I can't live on fresh air), and I'm told the SMC application process can be quite lengthy.

They don't ring up your boss at the start of the 10 month process and say "Mr So and So wants to emigrate do you know him?, oh, you say he used to work for you? Till just now, oh thank you very much goodbye"

Obviously I'm worried about it.

Thanks.

I didnt put anything on my EOI about current employment for either myself or Mr Granite for exactly that reason............. depends on your circumstances tho, if your current work is relevant to your work experience etc.

Hello, they do not need to contact your emploter at all if..... you provide written details of your employment.
The only reason (I can think of now anyway) is to confirm your employment if you are claiming points for it somewhere, but I covered this with contract of employment with a job description, payslips/P60 for start, middle and end dates.
Even if they need to contact them, it will not be until you have a case officer and they start checking your file - this is right at the end of the visa process.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, never thought of using P60's, wonder if I've still got those!
