I've noticed from recent posts delays of up to 6-8 weeks are possible whilst awaiting your EOI progressing from 'selected' to hopefully 'successful' :roll
Based on this, are you confident enough to save some time and get your ITA documentation (Medicals, Police certificates, etc.) in hand, shelling out on average £300 per adult whilst awaiting a decision on your EOI?
I appreciate if you submitted your EOI with a job offer and 200 plus points, then it's a safe bet to proceed with other matters... however, I'd still be interested to know just how many of you went ahead, or are going ahead with the likes of Medicals, Police certificates etc. whilst waiting in the 'land of limbo' :D
I guess you have to consider the 'service life' of ITA documentation, however I'd be interested to hear your views and comments on when is the best time to get your ITA documentation up and running to enable moving on quick as possible :nice1
Thanks

Its the single most difficult thing we have needed to deal with. To pass the time, I stress.
No, seriously, it looks like our SA police clearances will expire - so making a plan to replace them. From Ireland - its not easy but there are companies that help for $$$.
As for medicals, our doctor that did them said that he can post date them or hang onto them. We asked for them as we felt we would need them sooner. All I can ask if whether or not he can change the dates on them ......
But yes, though to know when some documents only last 3 months.

My OH had a job offer so the ITA came thru fairly quickly, but it was the medicals that we held back on as they were the most expensive bit at that stage that may have to be redone if anything was really delayed. You have to get your NZNC thru too I see, might that delay you?
We got as much paperwork done as we could such as proof of partner and job experience, birth certificates etc. Doing this did help keep me sane and then once we had ITA booked the medicals. I would check to see what kind of waiting list your panel doctor has. Ours was only 10 days 'ish so there was no real delay by leaving this till last thing.

Hmmmmmm....good question!!
We too are in limbo land...and it's a very strange place to be!
EOI submitted, 200 points with job offer, selected 21st May. I have to say though, I'm not at all confident about proceeding with other things!! I keep thinking that maybe I should book medicals for say 3weeks time but what if something comes up!? I'm not sure what it is that I'm expecting, just some random spanner in the works!! We have got the ball rolling with the paperwork that needs to be submitted with the ITA, assuming of course that we'll be successful? I guess I'm just trying to keep my feet on the ground and stay reasonably focussed.

Hi Mels... yep, that is a big deciding factor with all our plans, that until the NZNC approve and register OH we're going nowhere quick :roll
OH's documents were only submitted at the start of the month, so we're in the early stages of our rollercoaster ride... I was just really interested to know how other folk play matters, but thanks all the same for reminding us about the NZNC ;) :D

We used a simple rule (other than try to stay calm - didn't work).
Gather all paperwork you may need - birth, marraige certs, work experience, qualifications, etc
Medicals expire and are usually easy to book with 1-2 weeks notice, so wait until succesful.
Police certs take 40 days and last 6 months - do these, if you are delayed 6 months then there are other troubles anyway.
We didn't need registrations, but if they take time and don't expire then do them.
This will give you enough paperwork to keep you busy anyway.

And if you still have too much time on your hands, start on the practical stuff: clean out the attic/basement, cupboards, etc. Very therapeutic and time consuming :yes and it will need to be done anyway at some point!

We were selected on 23 April with 130 points, no job offer. We already have all documents ready apart from medicals and police clearances. Qualifications being assessed as well. We want to be able to complete ITA as fast as possible. As soon as we see "successful" we will book medicals and submit police clearances while we wait for the ITA to find it's way from London to South Africa.

Hi all,
Wonderful to know Im not the only confused person on the forum! Besides the stress of everyday life, with work and 4 kids (plus no husband), this paperwork thing really gets one going. I am now an insomniac, on the site at any time and await something to jump out at me to reassure me that the steps we are following are the correct ones.
My husband is in NZ (Tauranga). Has a 1 year work visa and has already started his permanent job. We were selected on the 21st may and now await (like many) our ITA. I am fortunate enough to have done all the certificates and police clearances. I will go for the medical as soon as I see a change on our status.
I used to think that ust being selected was the crucial thing for us and that it would make me feel less stressed. But the realisation is that it is all in your mind. If you say you can, then you will. I have sold everything and am literally living on bare necessaties (like paper plates etc.) This way I mentally feel I am ready to leave at the drop of an email. I miss my husband with all my heart and ther aint nothing thats going to stop me from going to get him!!!!! So banana's to that!!!!!

Although I'm sure that most medicals can be booked with 1-2 weeks notice, this isn't always the case, for us in the UK it was over 4 weeks notice and this was at all the panel doctors that we checked. Don't know if this was a time of year problem, or a one off?
Best advice if you are trying to get things done at a certain time then book your medical for when need it.
The police certificates now take 10 working days and not 40 days, or you can pay for the urgent service and get them in 2 working days.

Seriously though, glad I'm not the only one who finds this immigration malarkey confusing. I've been told it's all a case of timing and patience... a lot of patience... and a lot of timing... and more patience :roll

Ian... is that for a 'Subject Access Report and Enhanced Disclosure' or the new and encouraged 'ACPO' Police Check?
Thanks

To be honest, get as much done as you can, being prepared makes it so easy when your application progresses. If you confident of getting ITA I would get started now.
Find FULL birth certificates (the one with the parents details on), and if you not got those, get them. Get your police check forms in too, that can take up time.
Shop around for where you'll be getting your meds if you going for PR, it is amazing the difference in prices, ask on here for people in your area who may know. It is sometimes worth travelling out of area as the savings can be that much!
Good luck :nice1

That is of course the ACPO (or is it ACRO) Police Certificates that you are meant to be using in all NZIS applications now.
