Our interview will be next week.

It seems the processing at the London office is picking up momentum. We lodged our ITA mid April. The next thing we received was an email invitation for an interview.

Is it typical that interview is the "end stage" of a visa application (no job offer)? In other words, can we assume other hurdles such as medicals and/or other assessments have been cleared?

The common "consensus" from the forum seems to be that a decision will be made roughly 2 weeks (sometimes 1 week) after the interview. If so, we will know by 10 June?

Hi
Is it a telephone interview or do you have to actually attend an interview?

For the UK it is normally just a telephone interview.

Yes, the interview is normally at the 'end stage' of the process, and yes the final decision will normally be made within a week or two from this time.

If you haven't reviewed the sort of questions asked yet then that would be a good idea so at least you have thought about the answers.

Good luck with the interview.

Troutman,

Yes, it is a telephone interview.

IanW99,

Thank you for your advice. We have a good idea the sort of questions they are looking for to assess our ability to settle. Nonetheless we are going to review them again over this long weekend for a final preparation.

It is amazing how fast our journey reaches this stage. We expect it to complete in Sept/Oct 2008. Both our EOI and ITA have been processed extremely quickly, comparing to the average.

Are you simply lucky or NZIS London is ahead of schedule in terms of workload?

Hi there

I am not so sure about the "lucky" aspect of our application, once the interview was completed, I was astounded to receive the email the next day.
I was expecting a wait of at least two weeks.
I believe that if everything is in order, then the interview is almost a formality to see how you would settle in NZ

Best of luck with the interview

Dave

You say you lodged your ITA mid April - wow if it's done by June! I will probably be in the same boat, applying as a Skilled Migrant with no job offer, so I'm interested in how long it takes. Could I ask when you put your EOI in?

The London NZIS Branch say they'll take about 10 months to process these (no job offer) applications. Did you submit your EOI last year?

Thanks.

hi, sorry if i divert the topic a bit but, i submitted my application in beijing branch early april, and i'll be having the phone call next week too...i got back all the originals i sent in my ITA and along with it, a letter from beijing nzis stating that the expected decision date would be october 2008.

so having said that, silly question. 'would it take them 5 months (may to october) to decide on my phone interview? or they have a different procedure in beijing branch and 'would have other activities lined up after the phone interview? or should i expect that i'll finish my application earlier than expected?

thanks!
