I haven't posted this in the Budget 2008 thread as it may get lost and I think it is quite a useful tool.

My work has come up with a quick calculator which you put you current salary into and it tells you how much tax you currently pay and how much you will be paying after each of the announced tax cuts kicks in.

It doesn't do tax credits or anything fancy like that though.

Anyway, here it is (https://nztaxonline.deloitte.co.nz/public/tools/personaltaxrates/Default.aspx):

If you use it can you let me know how useful this kind of thing is so that I can feed it back to our National Tax Team who came up with the idea of doing it!

Thanks

James

Nice one James - quick and easy to use, just the sort of ballparks I was looking for... seems we'll be saving around $40 / week initially rising to over $60/week in 2011.

Nice one, but have you got one for "working for families" as I am trying to work out how much extra tax credit we will get on top of our current tax credit.

Great link James looks like we'll be saving $28 from October and then $45 from 2011 :D Although didn't include tax credits so maybe more!!

For us $28 initially and $55 in 2011.....enough to cover the cost of kids swimming lessons :)

I'll pass the tax credit question on to the team but imagine that these are qutie complex so there may be too many variables for it to be made into a simple calculator. And given that our clients can afford our fees it is unlikely that they'll need tax credits anyway! :)
