I don't have a full birth certificate which I know I will have to get to send off with our paperwork when hopefully out ITA arrives.
I have searched other threads about this and all seem to indicate that the birth certificate should show both parents names. Due to circumstances my fathers name wasn't registered at the time of birth but I do have access to papers showing his name etc. Does anyone know if this would be acceptable.
Presumably not everyone who arrives in NZ has the standard information?

I don't know an answer on this one, but as you say, I'd think it has to be acceptable. If someone gets a full version of their birth certificate, then it is what it is - they can't make it have information on it that wasn't put there at the time. I imagine there must be quite a few people whose birth certificate doesn't give their father's name, and they've never known what it was. Go back a few decades, and there wasn't the official pressure to record these things that there is now.

OH and I didn't have copies of our full birth certificates either so ordered copies online from here: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ There is a cost involved but it wasn't huge.

Needless to say about two days after we'd ordered them both of our Mothers found them in and amongst the paperwork they had!!:roll

As others have said, I would just send what is required and no more, once you have the full birth certificate then send it in, it will be fine.

Hi there
When we were putting together our visa application last year we found that we could not find either of our birth certificates and so applied online for new copies of them, we requested 2 each as they were a very reasonable cost, and literally that is what you get, a new certificate with a "copy and paste" section taken from the original entry. We submitted them with our visa application and they must have been OK as we have been in NZ since Feb 08.
Good luck with your application.

If your full birth certificate doesn't show a name under 'father', then there isn't one. I wouldn't, as others have said too, bother with sending anything else in, just the full birth certificate.

I have always found the general register people to be extremely helpful and quick to respond, so I'd just get in touch, get copies of the full certificate as it is, and send that off.

Good luck,

Daniela

Really they are just asking for official documentary evidence to prove you are who you say you are, so wouldn't overly worry about it.

You can always explain in your cover letter and adding additional documentation would do no harm, although probably unnecessary, but may help put your own mind at rest over the issue.

Hello
I am a new user to this forum and am in the same situation as you. I was just wondering if you managed to resolve the issue with the full birth certificate. Could you please give an update. Thanks

It was all fine, provided a full birth certificate and explained why my fathers details were not shown. They accepted it all ok.
