Hi all

Well we've been to NZ, loved it and want more!

There's me, my wife and our 3 year old daughter ..

The house is getting a lick of paint before going on the market.

We've been to the Expo in London in April (bit of a let down, not many employers ..) ..

I'm in touch with an agency and looking for work, but had some advice that you had to be there to get the job.

I'm an ICT Manager (Development) and a psychotherapist -so I have 2 CVs!! My wife has her own business which she would hope to start again out in NZ.

Here's the question and I would be grateful for any help. It seems the immigration process takes a year without a job offer. If you need to be there to make this happen how can this be done? I know someone who went over on a holiday visa and then got a job ..

What are the options?

Anyway, hi to you all and good luck with your plans!

PS We liked Auckland!

Hello, and welcome to the forum :)

There are 2 main options open to you -

1. If you have enough points without a job offer you can submit your EOI and should be automatically selected if you have 140 points or more. Many forum members have been selected with less points and no job offer.

2. Visit NZ on a visitors visa and then look for a job when in situ. Employers will be much more prepared to deal with you once you are "on the ground" so to speak. If nothing else it displays a commitment to moving to New Zealand ( and, of course, it gives you a chance to take a look around).
This is the route I intend to take, although not just at the moment as I have a number of issues to resolve in the UK first.

Good luck with your plans

Hi all

And thanks for the welcomes.

Gil, I am Welsh (well 75%) born in Haverfordwest, but a Welsh ex-pat really as we live in Dorset!

My wife is English (Welsh by marriage!) and my little girl will obviously be representing Wales at something one day - but apparently she's not allowed to play rugby ...

Thanks for the advice, and the visitors visa sounds like an option - just risky! Anyone tried this?
