Well having been watching the prices creep up over last few weeks, we decided to book today and just hope our visas come through in time, should do, but DH is always one to wait to be sure; however we'ver booked on-line, with Singapore Air, on the shortest possible flight, 23 hrs 30 mins. Somehow didn't mangae to choose seats when I booked, so does anyone know can I still book seats or is it too late?

Yes you can. If you go to the website you can follow the links (you will need the booking reference that came in the confirmation email). There's also a phone number and I believe can choose them by phone if you prefer.
Good luck for the flight. We are going that way in October - last time we went via LA for the extra luggage allowance but the stop-over in the transit lounge is a miserable experience!

August Mels.

Thanks for link about ASB; it says passport photo page and visa (if approved)- what does that mean? We obviously have no visa right now and once we do, presumedly it is approved?! Will ring them; now its 1/2 term next week, I can get to a phone during the day!

We are going via SA in September - if you are using your visa's for the first time you should be able to get double baggage allowance to 40kg per person. Thats what I was told anyway :yes

Did you book in the normal way or did you book one of their 'special' fares to get the extra baggage allowance? When I spoke to them they said we needed to book a different fare (slightly more expensive but with the extra allowance) - we haven't booked anything yet, just doing our homework so am curious as to how people have gone about getting the extra.

Congrats Carey, sure the visa's will turn up in time. Singapore is a great airline to fly with. You can check in online 48 hours in advance on the website.
Are you stopping over in Singy though? It is a long flight and it is worth it for the chance to see a bit of the Orient... the Rasa Sentosa hotel is fab, £120 for a pool view room ~~(you can get 2 adults and 2 kids in there if you email them) - lets face it how much do you pay in a crappy Travelodge on some motorway services car park for a night?

I found that pamphlet with the school info, do you still want me to send it to you?? I can wait til we up in UK end of June if that ok with you?

Things are going to get pretty busy for you now :nice1:nice1

Yes agree with napiers, if you get a special deal on the flight price you do not always qualify for the extra baggage allowance as indeed we found out, however as long as you are not too much over they don't seem to make an issue of it. Each airline could have a different view on it though! Good luck with everything try and relax, easier said than done from experiance

I just booked online as normal and then called them and emailed them. They sent a confirmation email that we would be entitled to double baggage allowance if we had unused residence visa's.
