I shall be studying a Graduate Diploma by distance, for one year from Jan 09, but every semester I will have to attend the Epsom campus in Auckland for 3 or 4 days. Anyone know any cheap places to stay near to campus or anyone have a spare room they would consider letting me rent ? I know it's a way ahead but better to start researching sooner rather than later.

Try googling for hostels in Mt Eden and you might find more too.

I was going to suggest Rocklands hostel http://www.rocklands.co.nz/ which is very close to campus, but their website says the minimum stay is 5 weeks, so probably not much use to you.
