Christchurch Preschool Costs?

For budgeting purposes, can anyone tell me the approximate cost of a good preschool in Christchurch? We will likely end up in the Avonhead/Ilam area.

By the way, we love the idea of our little one at school with a hammer in his hand!

Hi ,
Not sure if it helps but you are entitled to 20H free kindergarten/childcare in NZ. Most children attend local kindergarten :5 morning sessions for children aged 4 to 5 and 3 short afternoon sessions for little one (3 1/2 to 4, something like that, it might be different in other kindergatern). A friend of mine sends her little one to a private childcare centre, I think it costs 20$ for an afternoon (like 1pm to 5pm) and 35 $ for two children.
You might want to put their names down as soon as you know where you are going to live, childcare centres tend to be busy.
Sorry it is not very helpful,
Laura

Hi Laura,

That is helpful. Maybe especially that last bit about moving quickly to get junior's name down on the list. Thanks!

You may like to take into consideration that you may be entitled to WINZ subsidies....which can have a huge effect on the amount you pay ( in a good way!)
