been looking in this forum for 1 month now, only just joined.

We are in the process of getting our documents together for ita.

We have been looking at nz for over 2 years now, all husbands family now live in waikato, so we thought we would join them!(all originaly from bristol).

We booked medicals the other day , didnt realise the kids would need them too, so trying to sort that out, also found out we have another on the way!

So far every thing has gone fast, we put in our EOI on the 17th january, selected 19th january, ITA 8th february. :hopeso

Husband is a graphic designer, we live in shropshire, love where we are but want to be near family(although my family have moved here from scotland) nz will be better for kids, luckily family over there give us an insight into life over there for real.

Can anyone help? My husband worked for his employer for free for 3 months due to business problems, his letter from employer will read fine, but if nzis ask for ni contributions , could this cause us any problems? [/img][/b]

Hiya

and welcome to the forum.

As long as you letter is letter headed from your employer I don't think it mattera about NI contributions as NZ doesn't benefit from that. They just want proof that you have worked in a particular line of work that you state.

If in doubt give them a ring.

Whereabouts in Waikato are you headed, Hamilton?

What does you other half do?

I believe as long as you have proof of gainful employment, you should be fine. At least on my ITA paperwork, all that is requried is a letter (on company letterhead) stating starting and ending dates, job title, hours worked, and signed by his boss or HR representative. Here in the US, there is no real easy way to gather our Social Security records so I'm hoping the letter will do fine.

Welcome to the forum. Also - congratulations !!!!!! Another baby :P

I agree with the above comments, I don't think that a break in his NI records will be any concern for the NZIS ... like Jo says, they don't benefit from them and all they're really after is proof of employment. It's worth giving them a call though - or have a chat with your case officer - if you need reassurance.

Where abouts in the Waikato are your inlaws? It's good to have some 'actual reports' from folks already living in NZ isn't it. My inlaws are all out there too (hubby is a Kiwi) and sometimes the news and views we get from them is a million miles away from some of the things we hear/read about. Have you been to NZ yourselves yet?

Where abouts in Shropshire are you? Although we are actually in Staffordshire, we are only about 3 miles from the Shropshire border. Telford is about a 20 minute drive from here. Pretty close to Shrewsbury too (brothers girlfriend lives there).

I think you'll find the answers to most of your questions on this forum, and with the info you get from here together with the info from your hubbys family I reckon you'll be well prepared for your move. Please feel free to PM at any time if you need anything.

Have you noticed the thread regarding the next meeting? It's going to be either Sat 2nd April or Sun 3rd April .... again - PM if you need more details. It would be great to meet you.

Heck .... just read this back to myself ..... apologies for all the questions.

I know Church Stretton - nice place - and not a million miles from us. We have some friends in Asterley (which I don't think is far from you). Some good motorcycling roads around there !!!

I know what you mean about being happy to stay if NZ wasn't happening. I feel the same about this place - I think rural England takes some beating !!
