Could anyone tell me names of any good but cheap motels in the Albany area that we can lay our heads down for a week or so while house hunting.

Also what areas are good around Albany. We dont have kids ( kicked him out years ago :clap ) so school location not a problem.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi There !

Don't know about any motels, but my cousin lives in Dairy Flats, which she likes very much.

Albany has a lot to offer and also a wide variety of options. Are you looking for convenience and close proximity to public transport and shops etc or are you looking for space, quiet or short walk to beach?

my colleague has just returned to nz after working in uk, now working in north shore. He says he would like to one day live in
- Coatsville it's an affluent area (lifestyle blocks etc) near Albany. Albany has lots of good schools (im a teacher).----- might be heading that way-----. will watch thread for ideas of places to stay for us.

In terms of Motels etc I've found a couple of places:
http://www.albanyoak.co.nz/ might be a bit noisy as its close to the motorway
http://www.holidayguide.co.nz/Auckland/OliveTree.aspx in Browns Bay which isn't far from Albany at all

In terms of places to live it does depend on what you are after. If its countryside/lifestyle I'd say head out Coatesille/Dairy Flats/Silverdale way. If its access to the beach I'd say look at almost any of the East Coast Bays from Castor Bay in the south to Long Bay in the north.

To be honest not sure where best to be situated. I suppose as long as it's not way out in the sticks.
