I have just applied for a job and I am looking for some advice.

As usual there is no mention of salary and, as on previous posts, I am expecting the dreaded question, "so, what salary are you looking for?"

The problem is it is with the government at a senior management level. Other advertised posts have salary details on the advertisement but not this.

The job is area manager level, in the civil service. Quite a bit of responsibility, team management, that sort of thing.

I have looked further down the ladder to see what a role there pays and as a guide 4 rungs down are $45,000 ish

Any sugestions greatly received.:)

Why not give them a ring and get a idea on salary range. Human resources are usually very helpful as they dont want you wasting their time any more than you wish to waste yours! Good luck

Sounds like an $80 - $90K role to me - working on $10K extra per 'rung' Maybe worth starting negotiations at $100K ?

I assume you've looked for other jobs at a similar level to see if there is any indication, even if it's in a completely different dept?

Friend of ours working at Environment Waikato has a senior team lead/manager type role, he's on $100K
