Hi all,

My wife and I have started the process of emigrating to NZ and are both very excited and hope to be there soon. Not sure where we will settle yet as I need to secure a job offer in order to secure my visa, but Auckland's looking likely at the moment.

I'm in IT and my wife is a secretary.

Doesn't the time pass slowly when all you can do is wait?

Anyway, we'll let you know how we're getting on, and when we do get there we'll let you all know that too, and who knows, our next best friends could be the very people reading this right now. Let's hope so.

Do get back and say hello.

Regards,

Steve and Elaine.

It is a tormenting time, but loads of people have come through it. I wish you luck, hope it doesn't drag on too long.

Yeah somebody from near my home town of Droitwich - welcome to the Forum! Its a bit of a rollercoaster ride but you'll get through it and there are loads of helpful people on here so if you have any questions just ask away.

Uncanny as my husband is in IT and I've been a PA all my working life although I'm now a SAHM and we're now in Auckland.

Good luck,
Anneliese

I'm in IT (when I have a job!) and the missus is an administrator, so not too dissimilar.

Good luck, enjoy the ride.

Hi Dave,

Great to hear from a near neighbour. Good luck for Friday and do let us know how you get on. You are braver than I am going out on spec. I'm an AS400 Analyst Programmer and have a couple of possibilities in the pipeline and will let you know how they progress.

Once again good luck :nice1

Hi Andy,

Thing is we have done all our homework and got quotes for shipping furniture and pets, the cats even have their pet passports so we are ready to go. What are your plans?

Thanks and good luck with your house sale. We have decided not to sell yet but to rent for the market conditions improve.

Hi Anneliese,

Droitwich, well well, just down the road. How long have you been in Auckland?

We can't wait to get there. I am currently unemployed and taking a few weeks off hoping something will develop before I need to get another job. At least I am available for interviews at short notice.

We cannot think of anything else and are ready to go, but without a job offer I am left hoping and praying.

Auckland seems to be where my particular IT skills are more in demand but we are flexible.

We will let you know how things develop.

Regards,

Steve and Elaine

Small ole world isn't it! :nice1 My Mum used to work in Kidderminster, my brother went to school in Worcester and I went to school in Bromsgrove, Dad worked on the edge of Birmingham.

We've been in Auckland for 9mths now and although life has not been without its ups and downs we're really pleased we (OH, me & 6yr old son) made the move. The only thing I miss is family and friends - we lived in West London previously.

You might want to look at these threads if you are looking for IT work in Auckland:

Hi,

It certainly is a small world, we cycle along the canal to Cookley from Kidderminster and beyond. Can't wait to use our bikes in NZ. Glad to hear you are happy in Wellington, who knows we might end up there too.

Take care,

Steve and Elaine

Hi and welcome, sorry it’s a late reply !

we live in Halesowen and we are just embarking on the immigration process too, and coincidently my hubby is in IT and I’m a Teaching Assistant don’t know if that counts as anything in NZ as i cant find my qualifications on the NZ web site.
How far have you got? Have you applied for jobs or filled an EOI yet?

Good Luck & Regards,

Dave and Lisa
