Hey everyone!

I have booked my flight for NZ for the end of July with air New Zealand via LA!

Quite exciting that I only have 2 months to go before I am on the other side of the world.

anyone else heading over at that time?

Good luck with your move Andy. My son is already there again (snowboarding instructor). He arrived last week in Queenstown and said it hasn't stopped snowing since so if you're into winter sports it seems there is a good season ahead. All the best.

... that just makes us soooo jealous. We visited Queenstown last month during our 'recce' trip and had glorious sunshine for our 2 day stop-over... the thought of the place being covered in heeps of snow sounds magical :)

Best of luck Andy!

Not long to go for us either. We leave Edinburgh on 20 June, arrive in Dunedin a week later, then are making a long road trip before arriving in Wellington end of July (hopefully just as the container is arriving!)

Great news Andy, are you counting in sleeps yet? :clap We're going over third week in June to Chch, then hiring a camper van for a month to move around and see what we missed the first time, before we have to settle down.

Are you going over on tourist visa? Keep us posted on your experience of LA wont you :yes

I'm thinking too much about my exams to be counting just yet. I am going over on a general work visa and reusing all the medicals etc when i get there to apply for permanent residency.

I'll be having a bit of a holiday for a week or so but I actually start work on the 11th of August, scary!

Have you checked on this? I am fairly sure immigration require a brand new set of medicals when going for residency. It may be buried in their policy somewhere.

I remember going from a work visa to residency, I was trying to get my residency application sorted quickly so that I could re-use the medicals. But the work visa took so long I couldn't do this and my medicals were more than 3 months old by the time I came to send off my ITA.

Somehow, though trawling through page after page of their policy I found that they would have required fresh medicals even if my old ones were still valid. I remember this well because it made me feel slightly better about having to have new medicals- since I was going to need them anyway!

I can't recall where I found this information though. I would ring them.

Edit to add: If you're going in 2 months, then the 3 month expiry of the medicals will be up before you get to send off an ITA. But, like me, it may not matter a huge amount if you had to get new ones anyway.
I would certainly budget for getting new medicals, blood tests and xrays when you come out.

cheers potato, I only thought i could do this as i remember someone saying they were or had done it. may be wrong tho as my memory does like to mix things up.

I will be cutting it quite close with the visa and my leaving date to be honest. My medicals are on the 12th of June and will be sending off the visa as soon as I have them back. Nobody at the company seemed to be concerned as they said the general work visas tend to come back very quickly.....i hope.
