I've read that getting the medicals done in NZ is cheaper but how to do this?

For instance my situation is: I have job offer(s) but haven't submitted my EOI yet (been waiting for the job offer to gain points), we want to get PR but may need to go out to NZ on a work permit first as employers might not wait for the immigration process! The problem is if we go on a work permit/visa then we need to have medicals done first!? And then they only last for three months so would have run out by the time we submitted our ITA. How can we possibly get around these problems and have our medicals done in NZ?

Help very much appreciated!

If you go to NZ on a 12 month work visa then you won't need to take any medicals in the UK and the whole process will be quicker, however you won't have medical coverage so some form of health insurance will be wanted.

Once in NZ, you can then apply for your PR and take your medicals in NZ.

That said, the medicals in NZ are more thorough (IMO) which might not be a good thing and they aren't much cheaper. As you will already have a work visa, then there will be no rush to get you a PR so this can sometimes take many months to come through (best to get it in early).

Thats great news, thanks. Family tax credits (lack of) may be an issue though!?
