DH handed his notice in yesterday :exit . OMG!
We haven't even applied for his visa yet as the written offer has not arrived. I'm sure everything will work out okay (insert crossed finger smilie). If all else fails I'll just have to send him out driving HGV's for an agency (at least he's always go that to fall back on).
Anyone have any idea on how long it takes to get a WTR Talent Visa once the paperwork and payment has been sent?
I'm still organising getting passports for me and the children, then I've got the medicals, police cert. to arrange before getting our visas. House to pack, flights to book, it seems never ending for me. TBH I think DH is getting an easy ride, he just signs where I tell him :p , and has to find somewhere for us to rent when he arrives ready for us when we come out in August (another fingers crossed smilie)

Well done! It is as good a first step as any :yes
Good luck getting and keeping things organised. Lists, lists and more lists is my advice! You have a clear goal and as long as you keep that goal in mind it is amazing what you can accomplish!

I think you're right - your OH is definitely getting the easy deal there (apart from missing you all of course!!)

I'm not sure that I remember too well, but I think that it was 2-4 weeks from submission? I'm sure that it was well within 1 month and we were in NZ within 2 months.

I did similar in Scotland. We hadn't got PR at the time, although we were as certain as we could be that we would get it. The anticipation and desire to get out of UK was so strong by that point that it was affecting my work anyway.
Also, we had decided that even if we didn't get PR we would 'JFDI*' anyway and wanted to be in a position to jump on a plane within hours and just go.
House was sold, which helped of course.
In the end we got our passports back with blue stickers in two days before leaving the UK, so couldn't have got out much quicker!
Agreed, however, it is a tough call to make.
One advantage, having both of us at home for the final six weeks or so made preparations easier, although Paula would have to confirm that having me at home actually counts as an advantage !
Good Luck - Positive thinking is a good thing.

Hmmm... not sure this is going to be as easy for your OH as you think. It certainly wasn't for my OH who came out a month ahead of me & our 5.5yr old son (to Auckland). He found that a lot of estate agents didn't do evening viewings so he only had 3 weekends to find something. Equally he was dealing with culture shock, a new job, a new town etc. Plus me emailing all kinds of questions whilst I was busy trying to sort things out in the UK! :o
I think he would willingly admit that he choose the wrong rental for us as I really wasn't happy there. It was cold, dark, damp (dehumidifying going 24/7) and small. I became very focussed on buying somewhere rather than looking at other rentals so be careful you don't do that as you could end up buying in haste and repenting at leisure. Make sure you send your OH with a specific wishlist so he knows exactly what to look for. Also don't be afraid to up and move again once you see it if you really don't like it - being happy where you live makes a HUGE difference to how easy the settling in process can be.
Anyway, good luck with it all and enjoy the rollercoaster ride called emigration!

Good point. This shouldn't be underestimated.
I got relocated through work from Leeds to Scotland about 4 years ago. As a result I was living out of a hotel for 4 months in a place I knew nobody (believe me the hotel life novelty wears off VERY quickly).
No car and most workmates have home/family lives so there is only so many times you can walk up and down Royal Mile in Edinburgh without it becoming boring of an evening.
Dining alone in a restaurant isn't much fun either so I ended up most nights with a quick drink in the bar, then burger and a bottle of lager sent up to my room getting more and more bored and depressed by the night.
With no transport it was extrememly difficult to even go out scoping areas to live. or explore outside the city centre, particularly as it would have been evenings only and dark anyway.
OK, it's hard on your own at the other end, but at least you have friends, neighbours and family around. I very nearly told them where to shove their job at one point to go back to Leeds. I didn't, obviously.
The biggest difference would have been having a car available. Then I think I would have been out and about most evenings. That would doubtless have been a huge plus.
