Been following for a while now and thought I’d take the plunge. I am a science teacher working in Norfolk, UK (for the next 6 weeks until the end of term!) and am all set to move to NZ. Have got my residents permit – all I need now is a job!! Planning on flying out in September and look around for teaching jobs for a February start. The adventure begins…..:raebanana

Preferably South island - spent a year in Wanaka a few years ago, but realistic - depends where the jobs are.

We really liked Wanaka when we visited, but it's a small place of course. More jobs, obviously, in the bigger towns/cities.

Good luck.

Good luck with the job hunting... we also liked Wanaka when we visited, but like BBB says you'll obviously have better opportunities in the bigger towns/cities... have you thought of nearby Queenstown!!!

Good luck - all the best. You'll be in extremely high demand as a science teacher anywhere. Hope you like bureaucracy.

Thanks for everyones replies - Ive been having problems logging on so dissappeared for a while there!! Im just thinking about which section can answer my ever growing list of questions!
Lockstock - you say bureaucracy (sorry, not learnt to quote yet) - does that mean its better, worse or on a par with the UK? Good job I feel up for a challenge!:exit

Good luck with the job hunting...sure you'll be fine!

Where abouts in Norfolk are you teaching? We're in Cambs at the mo but I was brought up in the Swaffham/King's Lynn area of Norfolk.

We're heading to the South Island, Dunedin if all goes to plan!? Can't wait...just got EOI 'Decision Successful' so about to jump on the roller coaster for the rest of the journey.

I'm teaching in Kings Lynn - counting down, 32 days until the end of term!! Congrats on your EOI - things started to happen a bit faster when I recieved mine. Bit of a waiting game still though.
