Just a few lines to introduce myself as I'm new to this forum.

Currently living in Bromley, working in Canary Wharf for an investment bank (Sybase/MSSQL DBA) and have just got the ball rolling wrt police check, x-rays, medical, nzis 1000 etc.

Have two kids Gemma (3) and Cameron (2-nearly). My wife Debs works as a nurse in SCBU - some of you may be familiar with my better half, kiwidebs!

Since Debs is a kiwi I'm going over on a spouse’s visa which makes things a tad easier - kids get citizenship by descent. Looked at Stanmore Bay north east of Auckland last time we were over.

When we move over depends on mortgage redemption (30 Sept), selling the house (put on the market Aug - if I get all the DIY done), and the logistical nightmare of organizing shipping/storage, car sale, 2 cats, 2 kids and an increasingly anxious wife. Having read the forum for a while I know this has been done many times before but it's still a bit daunting. To be over by Christmas would be nice but we'll have to wait and see.

Reason for moving - kids to be closer to a set of grandparents/aunties&uncles/cousins, better place to bring up kids. Bit disillusioned with UK society in general, overcrowding, yob culture, politics, and crime - I know this is probably the same everywhere but hoping that with a smaller population it's not so prevalent. Outdoorsy lifestyle - looking forward to joining my father/brother-in-law on the Taupo and Taranaki cycle rides. These are all my own personal opinions (....and maybe the wife's) so please go gently on me - being a newby and all.

Anyway, that's me. Thought I'd join up now that our 5 year plan is in its latter stages and thanks to all who have already given me advise indirectly through Debs.

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark

Welcome to the forum. Kiwidebs will no doubt be able to point you in the right directions for finding info ..... you'll find the answer to just about anything on this forum.

I too have a kiwi spouse and have gained PR throught the partnership route. Please feel free to PM me at any time if you need any help, Debs and I have been chatting today in fact.

Fingers crossed that all oes well for you. It was very straight forward and easy for us - 3 months from start to finish.

Good luck.

Diny

Welcome, Mark. My family is not in your position (we're plain Skilled Migrant applicants), but it's terrific to have you aboard and we look forward to your posts.
