Just thought I would do a post to track my progress with the medicals in south wales.

I have booked my medical with Four Elms Medical Centres in Cardiff.

They have appointmens for about 3 weeks in advance from when I called which I thought was a reasonable waiting time. They mentioned they had recently got busier with immigration medicals and the wait is usually shorter.

They informed me that I would have to have my x-ray with the local Bupa Hospital (Spire Cardiff Hospital just off motorway). I booked this appointment on Monday and I had it today (thursday). I have to say that I was very impressed! I took along a photo and my passport and I arrived at my appointment time, 10 minutes later I was finished and on my way! The chappy said the X rays are usually sent the same day however he is away until Friday and they will be sent then....they were clear btw :clap

So I'm waiting now for my medical on Thursday.

This is a run down of the costs they have quoted on the Letter.

X-Ray = £83.50
Examination = £150

Blood Testing
Counselling = £10
Taking blood = £10
Laboratory Charge = £16 (per blood test - Basic)
number = 6 tests per person.

I have no idea why they list counselling as a fee? bit silly if you ask me but I suppose its another £10 in their pocket.

I'll post with how the medical goes next week and the final cost.

Cheers

Andy

Had everything done! The hearing test was quite amusing from my point of view but an enjoyable experience overall. Just wait for the bloods to come back etc.

It came to about 280 all together plus the 80 for the x-ray.

Wow, what was the hearing test? I think the only "hearing test" I had was listening to the doctor give me his views on Tama Umaga!

lol well i stood in the corner of the room facing the wall. I was instructed to cover my Left ear and repeat back what I heard. This was repeated on the other year. I repeated back all the numbers on both ears passing the test.

Amusing really as I am completely deaf in my Right ear hahahaha.......My good ear is good enough to compensate hehe! I was honest though as we just wrote down I heard nothing for the purpose of the test on the right.
