Recommend some a NZ radio station

Can anyone recommend a decent NZ radio station?
As a guide, in the UK I'd graduated to Radio 2 - with the exception of the unbareable Terry Wogan in the morning, when I'd listen to 5 Live.
The adverts on most here seem so frequent, I guess it's because we're lucky with their absence in the UK.

I've been listening to Radio NZ podcasts, to get used to the accent. However, the accents are often so Anglicised, I'm not sure it's achieving very much. Radio NZ seems to be most like BBC Radio 4. I did laugh at the pronunciation of 'decade' the other day though - it sounded distinctly like an insult!

Dickhead? :laugh They tend to call people "Ducks" as in "he's a duck", maybe that originates from people heralding from South Yorkshire? :D
Being an older person, I listen to Radio Hauraki, (Classic Rock that rocks mate) No Anglicised accents on this baby :raebanana

Likewise! Finally - a station that I can tolerate leaving on. It's not just for oldies though - from overhearing the local high school kids on the bus a lot of them listening too it as well. All the cool kids are down with the 'Floyd, the Stones and 'Zep. :D

Hauraki is good. I also loike ZM which is the nearest equivalent to Radio 1 with all the latest music and a broad range of rock/hip-hop/rap/pop/R&B etc. Keeps me up to date with da kids :D
Does get a bit repetitive though (a la R1)

We can only get the Edge in our car and whilst to begin with I quite liked it - getting a bit dull now :( Still get my Chris Moyles fix every evening though via tinternet :D

I like the way they often refer to the radio as 'wireless' - sounds sooo old fashioned and makes me chuckle :laugh

To CJ22
I have a relative who works for Radio NZ. He and many of his colleagues are originally from the UK emigrating to NZ some years ago. The accent is probably therefore a 'confused' one.!!!!!

Oh yes, forgotten about The Rock - amazing given they advertise all the time on telly. D'oh.
Might tune back in there for a while and re-ignite my AC/DC passion (the band that is, not the, er, 'lifestyle choice')

Now don't get me started, we already had this with the southern hemisphere electrons on another thread :laugh
Yes, Hauraki and the Rock are good, can't be doing with all this rap/hip hop junk though, Sam, forget the kids man, stick to your roots!!!

Nothing happening to my roots, they're firmly fixed forever, buty no harm in experimenting and sampling the lastest music either.
That's what I loved about John Peel (RIP) on Radio 1. Scratchy old bit of classical vinyl followed by The Undertones, then some african beats then White Stripes and finally a bit of Mad Capsule Markets or Melt Banana (futuristic Japanese weirdness) and a bit of Cannibal Corpse or Portishead thrown in for good measure.
Great.

I used to listen to Radio NZ National quite often, they always had very interesting people on there to be interviewed.

I find the playlist on Hauraki really repetitive - good music but wish they'd choose different songs from the albums occasionally. Have recently switched to The Rock which seems good.

How I miss John Peel. I used to spend many happy hours listening to his show whilst studying... he got me through my GCSEs, A Levels and Uni.
Over here I listen to bFM or The Rock.
