Can anybody help?

Our house buyers have just pulled out. We are due to fly out of UK to Auckland next week. We are now going to have to leave our house unoccupied and on the market while we are away. Does anyone know of any insuarance companies who may be able to cover us. I have tried Heath Lambert and they will not cover us.

Thanks

Destiny.

Thanks for your suggestions. We have managed to get insured. Thanks Ian and Caroline & Dave. I was really worried there as we fly out next Friday and things are a little frantic in our house to say the least.

Thanks again,

Destiny

Sorry to hear about your situation - glad you have found some insurers. I had been making some enquiries about leaving a house empty myself recently - just check out your insurance company's requirements for the winter months (ie draining down the systems or leaving heating on during Oct to March).

Don't know whether council tax situation applies to you - you may get a 6 month exemption period if the house is unfurnished or at least a discount if not (second home).

Best of luck and hope everything else goes to plan.

i think you can also claim back on water rates and it may be worth switching tariffs on utilities to minimal use because of the quarterly charges etc.
