Brighton - sat on the beach with loads of brown vinegar on my chips.
Over here it would be in Mangonui, sat on the dockside watching the sunset. Fabulous!

Ooh - I went to Bexhill when I was back in the UK in May. I had fish and chips with my Grandad at a place called Louie's (I think), and then again from Minnie Bertha's. Both pretty yum, although the portions were too big for me.
Bexhill is a cool little town, I really liked it there! (But I still preferred the chips in Brighton though...)

You've now got me trying to recall the name of the road out that way, on the way into town, which has about 10 pubs down it and is perfect pub crawl territory, (although quite a few were pretty rough around the edges).
It will probably come to me at about 2am now....

One of the retirement homes I play in do the best fish and chips I have ever had. The fish shops can't touch it.
decent size fish in real batter and the chips are straight from the spud and not these french fry things you seem to get everywhere here.
I discovered the cook is a pom who used to work for Harry Ramsdens in Stretford.

Two for me:
1. Whitby Seafoods, Whitby, Porirua
2. Kingsthorpe Fish (probably the wrong name), on the main road from Northampton to Kingsthorpe. They were only open from 4 - 7 pm on weekdays, and had a queue down the street!

Agree, super fish n chips in Mallaig, also very fond memories of the chippy there.
A couple of my locals were excellent too, just off the M1 at Crigglestone, and suprisingly a kebab shop in Thurlestone, plus several in Huddersfield.
I've yet to have decent fish n chips here in NZ, the fish are tiny and bland served with enormous portions of chips.
