As we are flying out to NZ on Monday next week, and we still haven't heard anything from NZIS about an ITA (still selected) should I tell them of our flight before we go?

Not sure if this will alert customs at Chch airport and raise questions, ie planning to stay. Would it be better to let them know we are in NZ from Wednesday 18th after we arrive??

Hopefully, none of this will matter as we'll get our ITA this week, fingers crossed. Does anyone have any advice on this please?

Nothing wrong with what you're doing, no need to say anything. Our EOI had actually expired right before we moved to NZ. I had a job offer, but not enough time to get a work visa for me and then send off again for the rest of the family. My hiring officer told me (correctly) to NOT bring the job offer with me.

There's nothing wrong with having an EOI waiting to be selected. There's also nothing wrong with coming to NZ as a visitor to look for work and then apply for a work permit. :nice1

Don't worry, they won't bat an eyelid. As far as they are concerned you are here for a reccie. Are your tickets return or one way?

We got return tickets, showing we wont be staying, although the return flight is in November.

I'm wondering about the timing of the leaving and possibly missing the ITA delivery, hence my original question. Think it would make sense to let NZIS in London know we wont be here from Friday this week.)

Dumb question but is this a recce or the final move?
If it's the final move then you would have to finish off the process from NZ, i.e. transfer your application to another branch. Not sure how easy that is.

Haven't done this myself but apparently it's not too bad. NZIS might need a little badgering to transfer everything, but once you've got the job offer and work permit, it sure helps that EOI and ITA along! :nice1

Please tell us the return flights are refundable... :)
