So I've sent off our NZQA assessment applications. With rushes on both of them since I've read too much about them being a pain to deal with. :(
I only wish I'd had the money to send them off several months ago.
The applications have arrived and the money has been removed from our account.

....but no email stating receipt. For either of us.
How long should I give them before I start bothering them about the applications?

The package arrived on June 9th in the afternoon. I was going to give them a week from the 10th to send us some 'official' confirmation and proof of what day they are counting their '20 business days' from.

Should I not even wait that long?

Don't want to annoy them but I know this will be the only thing holding up the ITA submission. Our NZQA applications are straightforward (IMO!). Both degrees from the same university with well documented accreditations etc etc.
Ideas?

..oh and does anyone have an email for me to bother them at?:o

IMHO get on to them now and keep on at them. Say you're worried you may not have received their acknowledgement of receipt or something. Make it look like it's a genuine enquiry to help them out. They should get back to you. If it's any consolation, they're not high up on anyone's Christmas card list here in NZ either. Apparently staff turnover is high.

NZQA acknowledged the receipt 10 days after it was picked up by Katie (according to DHL tracking system).

If in doubt hassle them.

My experince was that once I actually got onto them they then did something.

I'd get onto them asap too. I sent mine and the money was taken but I never had any kind of acknowlegement. I rang them after about 4/5 weeks and they said it's in the pile etc etc and gave me the application number. I should have got on to them sooner.

Update:
I've poked them twice. First time, no response (emailed via the website so who knows ), second time I emailed the help desk who has just informed me that they passed on the email to the appropriate department. Still no 'actual' response.
Once again wishing I'd had the money several months ago so I wouldn't be working with NZQA under the NZIS deadline.
Well. Only a month or so of this to go before I get really frustrated. :)

Another update. I'm getting irritated now.
I got this email from the helpdesk
AT TIMES WHEN UNEXPECTEDLY HIGH VOLUMES OF APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED, TIMEFRAMES ARE LIKELY TO BE EXTENDED.

And thats all it said.
I did email the helpdesk last week trying to get a hold of the correct email to bother the people that might have my application, but they emailed me back saying they'd forward it on.

So far it's been almost 4 weeks (on Mon/Tues) since they received my applications and took money with no confirmation or receipt.
I'm starting to think I ought to dispute the charges with my bank as NZQA has not provided any services or confirmation.
I'll wait until the 20 business days have passed--only been 15 now.

What a dreadful agency. :(

Oh guys I can sympathize with you! We had similar probs... now for the bad news. The 20 day timeframe for processing your application only applies once your case has been assigned to an NZQA case officer. It's got nothing to do with the date they take your money... wrong I know, but it is there in the print somewhere... :wah

We phoned them regularly and, I know this is difficult, but the more polite and friendly you are, the more likely you'll get some help. Try the following:

1. When you phone NZQA it's a central reception you get through to, they can check your status but usually can't give you any real help... when they answer just ask to be put through to the department dealing with assessment of international qualifications.

2. Once through to this dept make sure you write down the name of the person you speak to. Also keep a log of the date and time you called and what was said. Now you can keep asking for this person every time you call. Stay friendly! It does get you further... If they say call back in 2 weeks, try to leave it two weeks... (I personally wouldn't bother with email)...

3. If they ask you if you have a deadline for getting docs back to immigration, don't give the real one... give one maybe a month or at least two weeks ahead of this to try and give yourself some breathing space...

Good luck!! and remember, be persistant but be polite...:nice1

Yeah I know that the 20 days starts counting from when they review and accept my application. That's why I'm on their case about whether they have it so maybe it will get assigned. *sigh* :(

Have to share this as it is so ridiculous.
Been bothering NZQA for close to a month about my fast-tracked application, no response at all.
Decided to cancel-We don't need it, which I found out AFTER I sent off for it.
Within 2 days I got a response. And they say I'll get a refund as well.
I think they don't want to do work. Well, works out for me I guess?
