Some of you may have seen my post on monday whuch said the packers were in and we were flying out on Wednesday - well I write this from the sunny West Midlands rather than Singapore where we should be by now!

On Tuesday the wee one went to nursery while my husband and I finished the packing and moved out of the house as we completed that day. Went to pick him up in the afternoon to be told he hasn't been very well all day and I noticed discharge from his ear - yes he has an ear infection and so can't fly!

Doctors can't tell me how long until he's better - said could be one week, could be three - NHS direct said should be ok when his antiobiotics are finished which is 10 days. So I have changed the flights to 2 weeks forward - same times etc - no holiday in Singapore now though.

Most annnoying thing is he had an ear infection before and we took him back to the doctor last week to check it was all clear and he was Ok to fly and the GP said his ears were clear and it was fine

So now we are homeless, carless, everything less having closed off everything ready to leave - luckily the mobile company let me extend my contract and all the post is going to my parents uin Scotland so at least its accessible. A friend is putting us up but not a good situation all crammed into one room for the next two weeks - just praying his ear infection clears up quickly (he is absoluely fine in himself) and we don't have to dealy any further.

The other trauma I have now is claimig back the costs from the cancelled hotel in Singapore and the cost of cahnging the flights - I'm worried as he had an ear infection before we might not be covered.

Anyway we will have to make the most of it and try to have a holiday in the Midlands for the next two weeks!

So sorry to hear this, I can only imagine how you feel, but for the sake of your little one, a flight would have really been bad for him - he would have been in agony poor thing.

Some things happen that you can't control, can't be helped.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday in W.Mids :(

Oh, the poor wee thing, rotten timing for all of you...

My DS gets a lot of ear infections, and a doc can look one day - clear, and a couple of days later, bang - infection....

Hope you get everything sorted out, its not your fault you cant travel so hopefully your insurance will cover you....

Oh what a nightmare Baggies :yes
Both our boys suffered from ear infections up until they were about 3 years old then grew out of them but was hellish when they had them...

You must be gutted not to be going on the holiday you expected but you'll get here soon and am sure the travel insurance will sort everything out :)

All the best

Sorry to hear about that... however I think the important thing to remember is that your little boy is OK and if you had boarded the plane he may have run the risk of a perforated ear drum... now that would've been a "Disaster" and a "Trauma" for you.

Hope things sort themselves out and your move goes smoothly from now on.

Enjoy your 2 weeks holiday in sunny West Midlands ;)

What a shame. You must be so disappointed after all the anticipation of the move but delaying is the only decision you could have made. :(

Hope that your son gets better soon and you are able to get things back on track as quickly as possible.

aww really sorry to hear about all this.

The antibiotics should work fairly quickly and clear it up. The fact that the ear drum has perforated means that the worst is over.

Most GP's are less than great with their examination of the ears so not surprised he couldn't tell there was fluid/infection present.

Oh your poor wee one, hope it all clears up really soon. Also hope that you can get everything sorted with your insurance.

You can say bye bye to the Midlands for me (I'm originally from Droitwich) as I never found time to go back and visit a few old haunts before we flew out last year.

Good luck,
Anneliese
