I Got my job offer in writing yesterday.

My partner has spoken with a few immigration "agents" and Im getting really confused and worrying we are going to get ripped off!? some of them are talking short timescales and others are saying no.

Basically My job want me to start work late July!!!!! So - Have been using the search facility and the immigration NZ website but im stil at a loss as to what section I come under?

Do I apply for a working Visa (over 12 months) and Also apply for PR at the same time? What about my Partner (long term - but not married), he works in real estate but has no "quals" to speak of other than owning his own company experience etc. And my son. Im assuming Son can come on a student visa? And my OH visitor visa? (although I dont know anything about these, how long they can stay etc)???

I currently only qualify for 110 points (poss 105) WITH the job offer!!!!!

Any advice gratefully recieved _ im happy to use agent IF i can trust them!

as I am working with a short time scale I am applying for a working Visa which i believe is up to 2 years. If i enjoy myself and I think this could be a long term move then I will apply for my PR once I am there. I'm not using an agent or anything, the paper work seems very straight forward for myself.

If you have a max of 110 points then it isn't going to be easy to get a PR (yes it can be done but you have to wait until the selection points go down) so you may need to wait a long time - so depends on if your job will wait?

Your best option is to apply for a WTR (work to residence) visa instead for 30 months.

This is very simple to apply for and will be granted quickly, you will need to get medicals and police certificates for everyone.

When you apply, your son will be granted a student visa and your OH would be granted a general work visa so can do any job.

After 2 years you can apply for a PR and because you would be on a WTR you will be granted a PR without needing the points (you still need to go through the application process though with new medicals etc).

You can also apply for the PR at any time and hope to get selected earlier if you want.
