Ok, I'm hoping for some guidance before I buy my plane tix. My boyfriend is getting his phd and has his student visa for NZ. I'm allowed to apply for an open work permit/visa because of this.
I have all of the materials for the application, however, I'm planning on joining him in NZ in two weeks to help set up our life down there. the turnaround time for applications is most likely more than 2 weeks, so I will be entering NZ on a tourist visa and only have 3 months in the country with that (I'm an American). However, I have to submit my passport with my application in order to get my work visa. Is it ok/legal to run around NZ with no passport??? or do I need to get a certified copy of it or something?
