I meant to ask in my last post (can't seem to find the edit button?), is it ok to be in NZ without your passport whilst applying for a visa?

Do you mean that NZIS has your passport? If so, yes, you are fine. If on the other hand it has expired or been lost you will have to get another for the blue sticker to go into.

Well, I will be in NZ without a passport when I send off my app in two weeks...I'm still in the States as of right now and I'm checking things off of my list...
