Well I'm sat here in a small corner of our house, surrounded by workmen whizzing around filling boxes. The laptop's about the only thing that hasn't been packed now. Poor Charlie doesn't have a clue what's going on. He looked very worried when he saw his cot being dismantled!

Everything seems to be going pretty well though in our last week. Finished work a week ago, to a great (but emotional) farewell party. Spent a very busy week sorting out boxes and things to chuck from the house. Also managed to fall out of the attic on Friday, but no bones broken! Packers here today & tomorrow, fingers crossed we exchange on our house on Wednesday, car is being sold on Thursday then we fly on Friday!

Packing stuff for the plane has been a nightmare. We're taking two 30Kg suitcases, 4 carry-on bags, travel cot, buggy & car seat. And I still only have about 4 changes of clothes (including 1 jumper, 1 jacket & 1 pair of shoes)...to last 3 months...in winter...though Dubai is 40 degrees... We shall either smell or be going shopping pretty quickly!

We've managed to use all of our air miles to upgrade to business class for the flight, so I'm hoping the upgrade is worth it to make the journey as stress free as possible!

We're taking a week to get to Dunedin with a couple of stopovers in Dubai & Sydney (24hrs straight on a plane with a 1 yr old would have been too traumatic!) then a few weeks travelling before we arrive in Wellington.

I can't believe it's all happening now. So terrifying and exciting all at the same time!

Looking forward to meeting some of you on the other side of the planet soon!

I hope it all goes well...it must be some pretty exciting times in your household:clap

Aww, I am so envious you are flying business class:D We are taking the cattle class to Dunedin in December. Keep us posted on how the move goes and also whether it's worth having a stopover in Dubai:)

Day 2 of the pack.

Bikes are being dismantled, washing machine and fridge/freezer just been packed in seconds. And thank god they don't need to flat pack our Ikea bookcase. It took me 3 hours of extremely bad language trying to put it together!

Virgin are coming to disconnect our broadband this morning, so this could be the last time we're on for a bit. Just had last minute calls via Skype to parents and grandparents here (as they're not local). More tears from them. Of course us men aren't allowed to cry. Sometimes you wish you could though. It feels like we're breaking hearts. Hopefully, that's the hardest bit out of the way.

Anyway, got our Emirates BC flights to look forward too, so mustn't get too down! And we're planning a trip back next June.

Thanks for all your wishes. We'll be back in touch when we've landed!

Don't know if you'll get this before you fly but good luck and enjoy the trip - especially the business class. I've only ever heard good things about Emirates and most of that about cattle class so I think you're in for a good trip.

Say hi to Sydney for me - we lived there for 2.5yrs BC (before child).
