Confirmation:
Does it make sense to bring the following items from the U.S. to NZ?
-Television
-DVD player
-Stereo
-Vacuum Cleaner (I read an older post stating that we shouldn't bring over an item with a motor)
-Iron
-Electric Clock radios
-Toaster Oven
I plan to ship my items by the beginning of September but considered selling the items above and buying NZ versions later just in case they don't run properly.
Your suggestions are requested.
Thank you

Tv- depends on your TV. Some can be switched to PAL, and some have universal power. I would check these things. It's said that flat screen TVs in NZ are much more expensive, so depending on what type of TV you have it may be cheaper to take with you.
DVD player- Are you bringing DVDs? If so might be worth it. Does it have universal power? Can you switch it to be zoneless (And therefore be able to play DVDs from both NZ and the US?
Stereo- Unless it's a really high quality one I wouldn't take it, CDs don't have zones like DVDs and videogames.
Vacuum Cleaner- Does it have universal power? If not I would leave it. Plus you have to get it REALLY clean for MAF.
Iron- Again- Universal power? If not I would leave it.
Electronic clock radios- oh I'm a broken record- Universal power? Or battery powered? I'm taking my battery powered alarm clock.
Toaster Oven- If it's not universal powered I would probably leave it. I don't think getting a converter for a toaster oven would be worth it.

We only brought some musical equipment that needed to be plugged in. Everything else we sold or gave away (freecycle.org for things like toasters :) ). One reason for this is because if you are running anything on a power converter, you might well not be covered by your house contents insurance - worth checking the small print! Another reason is a lot of our stuff was getting old, and we wanted to get new stuff ... ;) :D :D
