A question for those who have recently made the move. Should we buy a NZ sim card here in the UK (approx £30) before we leave or wait until we get to NZ and buy then (approx $35)? The pet shippers and I think the removal company ask for a contact number.

Just give them your uk mobile number, they can phone that!! THAT is your contact number until you get there. You can always provide them with the number when you arrive via email.
It is simply a matter of going in to a Vodafone / Telecom shop and paying up the money, easy as that.
Good luck Nicky

It was a couple of years ago but we bought a vodafone sim at Auckland airport, popped it into my phone and we were away - very easy.

Thanks for the link. I think I will buy just one for now and then get the rest when we arrive.
