As I have posted previously, we are in the process of refurbishing our new house.

I have sorted the roof and kitchen, but when ripping off the wallpaper the walls are solidly sound and straight, but could do with a skim coat, like you could get done in the UK.

The walls are made of fibrous plaster (I Think) and don't really want the hassle of ripping this out and re-gibbing as the ceilings and cornice have real character.

I got a quote for 1 small room, 11ft x 15ft and the guy wanted $1500.

I am really struggling to find another plasterer and just wondered if this was the going rate and it might be something to do with the cost of plaster etc here in NZ as I guess it all has to be imported.

Anybody had any done recently and does this seem like a fair price. On this one I do feel a victim of the pom tax.

Cheers
