Hello techie types

My partner J has an HND in multi-media but has struggled to get work since being here, so he is currently doing an IT degree at Wintec. He was recommended by his tutors for some work for a local company. He had an interview today, and all went well. They want him to do 20 hours per week contract work - systems and programming stuff. They want him to name his price per hour. We have no idea what to say - what would you recommend?

Cheers for your help

Sam

I'm sure some contractors will be along shortly, till then use these as a reference point:

www.hays.net.nz/salary/

www.absoluteit.co.nz/absolute/absoluteweb.nsf/SalarySurveyResults?OpenForm

www.robertwalters.com/resources/salarysurvey/New%20Zealand%202008.pdf

Also, if you haven't already, do a search on the forum for 'contracting', there have been a few threads about it.

Good Luck

Cheers

Tia

I've got a document for estimating contract rates using the equivalent salary as a starting point - I'll email it to you if you like?
